Uttara Kannada is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, India. Following the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies in 2008, the constituency, earlier known as Canara Lok Sabha constituency, was renamed. The Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti has announced a candidate in this seat. Since the 1950s, MES has been seeking merger of all Marathi-speaking areas in Karnataka, which includes Khanapur, one of eight Assembly seats in this constituency. The constituency is home to several tribal communities, including Sidhi, Kunabi, Halakki Vokkaliga, Gonda and Gouli.
