Baramati is one of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the State of Maharashtra, India. The constituency comprises six Assembly segments in Pune district. The seat has been synonymous with veteran leader Sharad Pawar and his family's political legacy since the 1960s. Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), represented the seat from 1996 to 2004. Subsequently, his daughter and senior NCP leader Supriya Sule has held the seat since 2009. Ms. Sule, a three-term Lok Sabha MP, faces a direct contest in the 2024 polls against her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar for the Baramati seat.
