The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is set to return to power in the Himalayan State as the party has comfortably crossed the majority mark as the Election Commission declared the results. From 32 Assembly constituencies, 147 candidates are in fray. Opposition leader and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) supremo Chamling has lost from both the seats he was contesting. The SDF has won only one seat so far -- Shyari, from where they fielded turncoat candidate Tenzing Norbu Lamtha. tuncoat.

The SKM fought the 2024 Assembly elections alone as the BJP decided to break the alliance with it.
Elections to the assembly were held simultaneously with the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19.
