The State government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Bijay Kumar Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, to probe into the alleged ‘sex scandal’ involving Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.
Two women IPS officers Suman D. Pennekar, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Police Headquarters, and Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police, Mysuru district, have been appointed as members of the SIT.
The order constituting the SIT said that case number 107/2024 registered in Holenarasipur Town Police Station on April 28 would be transferred to the SIT. The case lists former Minister H.D. Revanna and his son Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna as accused in the sexual harassment case.
The order says that all cases that have been booked in connection with allegations of sexual harassment in Hassan and that may be registered in future will be transferred to the SIT.

The SIT will use resources available with the CID. The SIT has been directed to submit its report to the State government through Director General and Inspector General of Police, but doesn’t set a deadline for the same.
JD(S) welcomes SIT investigation
A day after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged sex scandal involving JD(S) MP from Hassan Prajwal Revanna, the regional party on April 28 welcomed the government’s decision. With the pressure now on the party to take action, senior leaders are expected to decide on the possibility of action against the MP, who is also the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda.
A pen drive with thousands of sex videos featuring multiple women, allegedly recorded by the politician himself, had been doing the rounds ahead of elections in the constituency.
Earlier, Nagalakshmi Chowdhury, chairperson, Karnataka State Commission for Women, had written to the Karnataka State Police Chief Alok Mohan seeking a SIT probe into the scandal.
The letter says that Karnataka Rajya Mahila Daurjanya Virodhi Okkuta lodged a complaint to the commission, bringing to its notice that a pen drive with several sex videos of women was doing the rounds. Significantly, these videos also include rape videos where the prominent politician is allegedly forcing himself on women, the letter claimed, seeking a SIT probe into the videos and also who leaked them.
