Sabarimala is a Hindu temple located on a hilltop in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district. The temple, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa attracts tourists from various parts of the country and the world. The Kerala High Court restricted entry of women above the age of 10 and below the age of 50 in the year 1991, as they were of the menstruating age. This ban on women's entry has been practiced for centuries, but, on September 28, 2018 the Supreme Court lifted the ban.
