Foam mattress toppers can add an extra layer of comfort and protection to both old and new beds. Fortunately, major sleep brands Saatva and Leesa have their own foam mattress toppers designed to deliver a body-cradling pressure relief. But which should you buy in the Memorial Day sales: the Saatva High-Density Foam Mattress Topper vs Leesa Mattress Topper?

Saatva is the luxury brand behind 2024's best mattress, and the High-Density Foam Mattress Topper is the cheapest bed topper of their range. The Leesa Mattress Topper, meanwhile, is Leesa's only bed topper.

In this Saatva vs Leesa mattress topper comparison guide, we'll compare the design, comfort and support of both if you're deciding between the Saatva High Density Foam Mattress Topper and the Leesa Mattress Topper.

  • A queen-size Saatva High Density Foam Mattress Topper is $295
  • At 25% off, the Leesa Mattress Topper down to $224 this Memorial Day

At MSRP, a queen-size Saatva High Density Foam Topper is $295, while a queen-size Leesa Mattress Topper is $299, placing them in the same price bracket. However, there's rarely a Saatva mattress sale on this all-foam topper, so it's always stuck at full retail price. Meanwhile, the Leesa topper overtakes the Saatva topper in terms of affordability thanks to frequent deals.

Usually, there's a 20% off deal on the Leesa topper that typically puts a queen-size down to $239. However, a 25% discount for Memorial Day means you can now pick a queen-size Leesa topper up for $224.

Moving on to extras, the Saatva topper boasts the most generous extras: a 1-year warranty, 180-night sleep trial, and free shipping. Leesa also offers a 1-year warranty and free shipping, but the sleep trial only lasts 30 nights. That said, Leesa's returns are free.

SAATVA HIGH DENSITY FOAM VS LAYLA MATTRESS TOPPER: Design

  • The Saatva High Density Foam topper is 1.5", while the Leesa topper is 2"
  • The Leesa topper has a machine-washable removable cover
  • The Saatva topper comes with anchor bands to keep it in place

Both mattress toppers are compatible with all mattresses. The Saatva High Density Foam Topper is surprisingly thin at 1.5", especially for a topper from a luxury brand. A Tom's Guide, we believe that the best mattress toppers should be at least 2" thick, so this Saatva topper may be too thin for some.

Fortunately, the Leesa Mattress topper stands at 2", and has a soft knit cover that's both removable and machine washable for an easier clean. While the Saatva topper's cover is neither machine washable nor removable, it is treated with a special botanical antimicrobial treatment to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and other allergens. It also comes with anchor bands to keep the mattress topper from shifting.

SAATVA HIGH DENSITY FOAM VS LAYLA MATTRESS TOPPER: Comfort and Support

  • The Saatva topper has a medium feel ideal for side sleepers
  • The medium firm Leesa topper provides excellent support for back sleepers
  • Both use a breathable covers for temperature regulation

The Saatva High Density Foam Topper has a medium feel intended to suit all sleep styles, but both Saatva and Tom's Guide reccomend this topper to side sleepers especially. A medium rating means this mattress topper is ideal for softening a firm mattress and will provide cushioning relief when side sleeping, but may be too soft and thin for back, stomach, and heavyweight sleepers.

The Leesa topper is more supportive thanks to a firmer medium-firm rating. It's also designed to offer both bounce and comfort meaning it will be responsive and firm enough for back, side, and combination sleepers. However, as both mattress toppers are designed to add body-contouring comfort to beds, some sleepers will want something firmer (especially front sleepers).

In terms of temperature control, both have a breathable covers. Saatva's cover is made from moisture-wicking organic cotton, while Leesa uses a grey knit cover for a cool night. Neither are cooling toppers per se, but user reviews for both toppers indicate their breathable materials keep them cool and comfortable. However, be mindful that Leesa's website states their topper is best for "people in colder climates who need extra warmth" and is made from heat-trapping memory foam, so those who are prone to severe overheating should look elsewhere.
