AEC Commends Ghana’s Commitment to Boost Energy Security with Second Gas Processing Plant The Cabinet of #Ghana has approved plans by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to develop a second gas processing plant in the country. The project builds on efforts to maximize the country’s 2.1 trillion cubic feet of gas resources to support electrification and industrialization. Developed by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in partnership with Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, the project will address fundamental power challenges by increasing security of supply through gas-to-power solutions. The African Energy Chamber (AEC) – representing the voice of the African energy sector – commends the commitment by the Ghanaian government to unlock the full potential of the country’s gas resources. The AEC views gas as the fuel of the future in #Africa, and #Ghana, through its focus on gas infrastructure, is laying the foundation for enhanced fuel security and electrification. With the addition of a second gas processing plant, #Ghana will be able to bolster power generation and gas utilization across the country, leading to a more prosperous future in West Africa. Trump’s Second Term: A Rare Opportunity for Real African Energy Independence Donald Trump’s return to the White House in 2025 represents a pivotal moment for Africa’s fossil fuel industry. His administration’s swift reapproval of a USD4.7 billion loan from the U.S. Export-Import Bank of the United States (Exim) for TotalEnergies’ liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in #Mozambique — initially greenlit in 2020 during his first term but sent into deep-freeze for the full duration of the Biden years — sets the tone for what could be a transformative era for #Africa’s energy sector. Despite #Mozambique’s stabilization of security issues and concerns that the transfer of power in America would delay receipt of the loan even further, the Biden Administration refused to release the funds ahead of Trump’s inauguration, a decision reflective of the administration’s reluctance to support new fossil fuel initiatives throughout Biden’s time in office. In contrast, Trump’s decisive action within weeks of taking office signals a renewed, positive working relationship between the United States and Africa — one that prioritizes energy development over ideological objections and the Green Agenda’s influence. Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition to Headline AEC Accra Investor Briefing #Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition John Abdulai Jinapor will deliver a keynote speech at the Invest in African Energies: Accra Investor Briefing on April 14, 2025. The forum will offer strategic insight into the country’s recent and upcoming regulatory reforms as the country drives over 17 oil and gas projects over the next three years. Minister Jinapor’s participation will not only generate greater awareness around #Ghana’s energy and investment opportunities but engage foreign operators and financiers ahead of the #AfricanEnergyWeek (#AEW): Invest in African Energies conference this September. Through industry reform, #Ghana is positioning itself as a major investment hub in West Africa. In the natural gas sector, the country’s Gas Master Plan (GMP) offers a market growth strategy through 2040. The GMP incentivizes capital and technology deployment across the gas value chain, supporting major investments that aim to unlock the full potential of #Ghana’s 2.1 trillion cubic feet of estimated gas reserves. In the oil sector, recent amendments to laws requiring companies to allocate at least 15% of each project to the state as free and carried interest as well as more flexible oil royalty regimes are promoting investment. African Energy Chamber reposted this
We need to nurture African success, empower it, reward it, and celebrate it. We can't grow when we continue the crabs in a barrel mentality. If you don't like me or the African Energy Chamber doing or supporting a conference, do it better than us. Beat us and stop complaining. You put up a lot of shity shows with no narrative, no investors, and no benefits for Africans and opened the door for me to do it better. Now you complain. Stage builders with no understanding of energy and #Africa. There is a reason AOW and others are dead and many will fade away soon. They suck at it. We must defeat that soft bigotry of low expectation and that entitlement mindset. We got too use to accepting low standards and second class in #Africa. This is wrong. I want first class for Africans and i will not apologise for it. I want perfection. Africans need to be a reflection of perfection. We need to demand excellence and not make excuses for incompetence because someone happens to be black or because someone comes from London to do a job in #Africa. I have seen a lot of shit shows from London as well. dmg events does an amazing job and I respect them and I also believe Africans should push dmg events to be better and not get comfortable like the losers that went to Dubai. The AEC has been very successful and recognised globally for its work in being a voice for our energy sector. There is no question that the AEC will go down as the one of the greatest energy business advocates to have ever operated in #Africa. We are the Babe Ruth of energy leaders globally. What saddens me is the hate and the jealousy on the work this team does that is coming from Africans and a few misguided people in the energy sector. I see it, I feel it but I don't care. Haters gonna hate. A small group of embittered people angry daily against the string of activities by the African Energy Chamber that now almost dominate the thoroughfare. The African Energy Chamber does its jobs well and am proud of the team at Chamber. Some tend to regard the African Energy Chamber as uninvited guests at a meager meal. Many believe the AEC’s gains come at the expense of them but they had the opportunities and didnt use them or just did a really bad job. We are demonstrating excellence and we should always demand it of Africans. No handouts. Just hard work. We believe in personal responsibility and Africans must be held to that standard. I continue to believe in self reliance than foreign aid. No government or western NGO's or western government has done as much for the poor as free markets has. The rapid growth of African Energy Chamber is almost a laboratory study of human achievement, for it extends back to a time when fossil fuels was a dirty word and was accomplished in the face of the strongest opposition confronting anyone who dares to speak up for fossil fuels in Africa. The AEC put the word energy poverty in everyone's vocabulary. Today it is fashionable. #AEW2025
