ITB Berlin 2025: Showcasing Cape Town on the Global Stage ITB Berlin once again proved why it’s a must-attend event for the global tourism industry. For Cape Town Tourism, it was an incredible opportunity to showcase our city, strengthen trade relationships, and gain valuable insights into the future of travel. The overwhelming response to our One Small World collaboration with New York City and Berlin, was a standout moment that reinforced the power of authentic storytelling and global partnerships. Key Takeaways: 1. Authentic Travel is Thriving – Visitors want immersive, local experiences. Cape Town’s diversity and neighbourhoods position us as a leader in this space. 2. SMEs Need More Global Access – Small businesses create the most authentic experiences, but stronger partnerships are needed to help them reach international travellers. 3. Outdoor & Adventure Travel Continues to Grow – Nature, adventure, and ‘calmcations’ (restorative escapes) are in demand, and Cape Town is perfectly positioned to offer them. 4. Sustainability is Non-Negotiable – Responsible tourism is no longer optional. Our Limitless Cape Town campaign is a great example of meaningful, inclusive tourism. 5. Connectivity Drives Tourism Growth – More flights = more visitors. Expanding air routes is key to Cape Town’s long-term success. 6. Cape Town’s Brand is Stronger Than Ever – ITB reinforced that Cape Town isn’t just a place—it’s an experience. Our local-first messaging is setting us apart. 7. Digital & Human Experiences Must Coexist – AI and smart travel tools are shaping tourism, but human connection remains the heart of a great travel experience. 8. Collaboration is the Future – Our One Small World partnership with NYC & Berlin showed how global cities can work together to enhance tourism. Looking Ahead Cape Town is in a powerful position. As sustainability, AI, and carbon-neutral tourism become key industry drivers, we’re ready to lead the way. Now it’s about turning insights into action—strengthening connections, embracing innovation, and growing Cape Town’s global impact. #CapeTownTourism #ITBBerlin #OneSmallWorld #GlobalTourism #ResponsibleTourism Enver Duminy Briony Brookes Carel Stadler
