37 Years of Dedication at City Property The 3rd of August 1987 will always hold a special place in Carin Du Toit heart. On this day, she took her first step into what would become a fulfilling and lifelong journey with City Property. She was young, eager, and full of dreams about what her future might hold. Little did I know that she found her true "happy place." Last month, Carin celebrated her 37th anniversary at City Property, a milestone that fills her with pride and gratitude. We asked Carin to share some words of wisdom for new employees. Her advice is simple yet profound. “Always be hardworking, honest, and trustworthy. Dedication to the company and kindness towards others will take you far. My guiding motto has always been and continues to be: Keep your feet on the ground and reach for the stars!” On a personal note, her husband will be retiring at the end of the year, and they will be starting a new chapter in their lives. Carin’s journey with City Property has been one of growth, learning, and unwavering loyalty. She shares that as she steps into this next phase of her career and life, she will do so with a deep appreciation for the opportunities she has been given and with great anticipation for what lies ahead.

#TheTannery What once was a functioning tannery is now an industrial park. In the early 1900s, the property was Silverton’s hide tanning facility. After the tannery closed in 1986, the industrial park was established and grew to over 120 factories. Today, the suitably eclectic tenant mix includes warehouses, shops and factories ranging from automotive, construction metal and power to food, engineering, printing and technology.

Celebrating the Legacy of Standard Bank Chambers This Heritage Month As a proudly South African company with over 55 years dedicated to inner-city rejuvenation, City Property continues to transform Pretoria’s urban spaces. This #HeritageMonth, we celebrate our rich legacy, including one of our most iconic heritage buildings: Standard Bank Chambers on Church Square. Church Square has long been the heart of Pretoria, with the Standard Bank Chambers standing as a testament to the city’s history. The building, completed in 1933 by the renowned architects Stuckey and Harrison, replaced the Grand Hotel and was inspired by the grand design of South Africa House in London. Recognised as a National Heritage Resource, it remains a symbol of Pretoria’s architectural elegance and historical importance. Click here to read more : https://lnkd.in/dVR7BNgJ

Celebrating 28 Years of Service: William Chelopo September 1st marked a significant milestone for William Chelopo —28 years of service at City Property. His journey began in 1996 when he joined as a security officer. Over the years, his career has evolved, and in 2004, he took on the role of Building Manager, starting at Amanda Court. Since then, he has worked at various buildings across the CBD, Hatfield and now Nedbank Plaza, where he manages both residential and commercial properties. Throughout the years, he has gained valuable experience and has undergone various trainings that have not only made his work more manageable but also has enriched his professional growth. In 2016, his efforts were recognised with a Certificate for Service Excellence, and last year he was honoured with a Long Loyal Service Certificate. A true testament to Willam’s commitment and dedication. “Keeping an open mind, listening to others perspectives, and being willing to assist whenever needed are principles that have guided me through my career.” Willam believes in always being available to tenants, ensuring their needs are met with care and attention. We are proud of your journey and look forward to your continuous growth with the same passion and dedication that has brought you this far.

This Heritage Month, we will be sharing stories that celebrate the City Property heritage and the tapestry that unites us. Here’s to our people, buildings, and community—each playing a vital role in the City Property story. 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 Valday du Plessis’ love with the city started in the 1960s when he stayed with his parents in the heart of town. These days Valday calls Nedholm home and has been a City Property tenant for over 20 years. Enjoying the fruits of his labour as a pensioner, he appreciates the convenient location of his two-bedroom apartment in Sunnyside from where he can easily travel to Brooklyn or Groenkloof. “The climate against the hill along with the big open windows of my apartment makes it such a lovely and warm place.” Valday has many memories of his stay with City Property, including a recent renovation of the building. “What I enjoy about renting from City Property, is that I know I deal with a professional company who looks after tenants and provide clean and safe spaces.” As someone who has stayed his whole life in town, he believes tourism is a great opportunity for the city – and to showcase what easy living in a capital city looks like. #HeritageMonth #CityProperty #CommunityBuilder #OurStory
