Are you aware that when an employer employs their first employee, they have seven days to register with the Compensation Fund? Not only do you need to register, but from registration, you need to submit an annual Return of Earnings report to the Compensation Fund during the month of April and keep your Compensation Fund account up to date to avoid penalties and fines. If your organisation becomes dormant, you cannot simply stop submitting, you need to inform the Compensation Fund Commissioner in order for your account to be frozen or your penalties and fines will still build up. If your account is in arrears and you need to make a claim for an employee, the Compensation Fund will not assist you until your account is up to date meaning that the employer will be responsible for the medical bills of the employee in the case of a workplace injury.
