About us
DGB (Pty) Ltd was formally established in 1990, although our true roots extend over 300 years when winemaking began at the Boschendal and Bellingham farms in the Cape Winelands. In fact, we were doing things a little differently in the 1940’s already, when Douglas Green pioneered the wholesale sales model for wine in Paarl. Today, we are one of South Africa’s largest independent wine and spirit producers and distributors. No matter how big we become, the utmost professionalism, pride and dedication of our people permeates every level of our business ensuring that we never forget to take care of the small details. What sets us apart is our continuous quest and capacity to get better as we grow. The combined experience, talent and energy of our people is clearly tangible in our world-class wine and spirit brands that are marketed and sold with authentic enthusiasm all over the world.

The annual Intercontinental Spirits Challenge took place in Stellenbosch, Western Cape on 2 May 2024. This was the second segment of the Intercontinental Spirits Competition. DGB entered a couple of our elegant, delectable offerings to this second instalment, and once again impressed the panelists. The Cape Brandy category was the highlight of the event, with the judges impressed by the depth of flavour, complexity, and unparalleled quality of the brands that participated in the competition. Boschendal XO Potstill Brandy walked away with the coveted Trophy Award and was noted for its exceptional complexity, remarkable character and finesse, its super balance and nuanced flavours. The rest of our prestigious portfolio held their own and were awarded the following in their respective categories: 1. Sydney Back 10-Year-Old Potstill Brandy - Double Gold 2. Sydney Back 15-Year-Old Potstill Brandy - Double Gold 3. Sydney Back 25-Year-Old Potstill Brandy - Gold 4. 1000 Pounder Rum - Gold 1000 Pounder Rum stood out in the Rum Category, with the judges calling out its standout offering that exemplified the category’s burgeoning popularity and distinguished itself with its remarkable blend of flavors.
