Achieving gender equality in the workplace is essential for a thriving and inclusive society. Addressing subtle biases, like the likeability penalty that women often face in leadership roles, is crucial. At Empanda, we are dedicated to driving gender equality in business and the workplace, in line with SDG 5: Gender Equality. Gender equality is not just a women's issue; it’s a human issue that requires the active participation of both men and women. To achieve this, we need to demand equality and actively give it. Understanding and addressing our subliminal biases is essential. We must recognise the challenges women face, such as having to prove their competence repeatedly. Awareness is the first step towards meaningful change, and we must be mindful of our practices to create an inclusive environment for all. Today, we honour the incredible women at Empanda and everywhere, who are leaders, innovators, caregivers, and visionaries. Let’s support each other and strive for a workplace where gender equality is a reality, not just an aspiration. #NationalWomensDay #EmpandaWomen #WomenInLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #GenderEquality #SDG5

Our marine resources present one of our greatest opportunities, yet we are overfishing and polluting our oceans. On this World Oceans Day, we ask: what can businesses do to deliver SDG 14, Life Below Water? At Empanda, we are committed to playing our part, aiming to conserve and sustainably use marine resources. We understand that our oceans are the lifeblood of our planet, teeming with biodiversity that is central to our national heritage - from the kelp forests of the Cape to the coral reefs of iSimangaliso Wetland Park. These waters are crucial to our sustenance, culture, and livelihoods. We call on businesses to support marine conservation and seize the opportunities our oceans offer. Let’s align our efforts with the 2030 Agenda, taking bold steps to combat pollution, promote sustainable fishing, and back local conservation initiatives. Our seas are not just bodies of water; they are the essence of life, our economy, and our environment intertwined. Let’s pledge to keep them vibrant and thriving for generations to come. 🌊🇿🇦 #SustainableSeas #SAOceansAlive #WorldOceansDay #ProtectOurOceans #BluePlanet
