LexisNexis South Africa has invited me to participate in their upcoming webinar, ‘Safeguarding Children: The Need for Thorough Screening,’ as a discussion panelist, alongside Dr Marc Hardwick from The Guardian Investigations, and Adv. Marne du Plooy from the Department of Justice. 🛡️   In recent years, we have seen far too many high-risk individuals gain access to positions that provide them with unfettered access to our children, allowing them to exploit those they were employed to protect. In many of these cases, a simple social media background check would have flagged instances of high-risk content and behaviour, revealing the true nature of these individuals as unfit for the care of children. 🚩⚠️   A comprehensive analysis of an individual’s social and digital media presence enables us to gain a far more accurate insight into who they are behind manicured appearances, slick social skills, and polished CVs. Our data on the effectiveness of social media background screening speaks volumes, yet many institutions still do not recognize the need to refresh their outdated background check protocols. 🙃   Click the link below to secure your spot in what I anticipate will be a very eye-opening session 👀: https://lnkd.in/dxG6yzzB   #webinar #ExpertInsight #childsafety #childprotection #backgroundscreening #backgroundcheck #Socialmedia #digitalmedia #protectoutchildren #engage #educate #upskill

An eye-opening perspective on truly understanding the complexities of mental health and wellbeing, and how it can be effectively addressed in the workplace to create an organisation that genuinely values and supports its employees. Thank you for sharing, Farhad.       This past week, I heard something on the radio that made me pause and reflect, and it’s really stuck with me. It was along the lines that our mental health isn’t static or a singular state in which we find ourselves, but rather a complex spectrum with many ups and downs. Reflecting on my own journey with mental health, as well as those close to me, it made perfect sense to think of it as a continuum on which our mental well-being constantly fluctuates and shifts. 📉📈   As a CEO, addressing mental health within my company and amongst my team is vital, especially after everyone has gone through a global pandemic that has reshaped our world permanently. By encouraging honest conversations and providing resources for mental well-being, I believe we create a stronger, more resilient team. It’s not just about productivity—it’s about ensuring everyone feels valued and supported, both personally and professionally. Mental health isn’t a one-time conversation; it’s an ongoing dialogue that shapes our culture and drives meaningful performance.   The topic of mental health and wellbeing shouldn’t be hidden away, or only brought out for the month of October; it deserves a permanent seat at the table. Talking about it openly could encourage those struggling to feel more comfortable reaching out for support and guidance. 🫶   By keeping these conversations going, we can create a space where no one has to face their struggles alone, and together we can foster a culture that truly supports every individual’s wellbeing. 💚   #mentalhealthmatters #mentalwellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #BreakTheStigma #YouAreNotAlone #WorkplaceWellbeing #employeewellbeing #SupportEachother #sharethecare #BeKind

On 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆, it’s important to remember that our mental wellbeing deserves as much attention as our physical health. 🧠🫶 While technology and social media keep us connected, they can also overwhelm and drain us. Did you know that the average person spends 𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 on their phone every day! Over the time span of a year, this totals to 𝟳𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 spent looking at a phone! (Explodingtopics.com) 👀📲 “We don't deeply care about each other's lives. We consume them as content. We're in constant contact with people, but to what end? They're not meaningful connections. Don't let social comparison let you lose sight of what you care about. Don't let social media blur your sense of what matters to you.” - Brittany Broski, The Broski Report Podcast, Episode 65 Prioritising self-care means recognising when it’s time to step back, take a break, and focus on what truly matters—our peace of mind. Let’s make it a habit to be kind to ourselves, not just today, but every day. 💚 . . . #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #worldmentalhealthday #employeewellbeing #Socialmedia #technology #DigitalDetox #Statistics #Data #selfcare #takeabreak #health #wellbeing #mentalhealthmatters #support #awareness

𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝘿𝙖𝙮! 📚 In our digitally and technologically advanced world, digital literacy has become a key area where people are expected to excel in order to function in society. 🌐Adapting to and harnessing the capabilities of technology and digital tools is necessary to perform even the simplest of tasks, and without these skills, some individuals are left in the dark. Whether you’re a Baby Boomer who doesn’t know how to send an email or use online banking 👀, or an individual from a developing country with little to no infrastructure to provide its population with access to these tools and platforms, a lack of digital literacy leaves one behind. Looking at a snippet from DataReportal’s latest snapshot, it is clear that developing regions have some of the highest number of individuals disconnected from the online world. ❌ Whether the individuals represented on this map have consciously chosen to abstain from using the internet or find themselves without access to it, the collective data shows that 32.6% of our global population is cut off from the online world. In the 21st century, access to the internet, along with education on how to use these online platforms safely and effectively, should not be a privilege but rather a necessity. The online world has shaped our society and changed the way we live; yet, 2.672 billion people are left without such an invaluable tool and the skills needed to utilise it. 💻📲 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳? 🤔 . . . #internationalliteracyday #digitalliteracy #digitalmedia #Socialmedia #literacy #educate #learn #lifeskills #upskill #technology #internet #online #global #Equality #equity #Data #Statistics #internetusers #disconnected

If you’ve ever attended an event or webinar featuring our CEO, Farhad Bhyat, you’ve likely heard him use the term ‘𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢’. 🌐  When Farosian’s social and digital media risk management and mitigation solutions are all used cohesively, they form a mutualistic, symbiotic relationship, working together to help our clients stay on top of any risks associated with these popular online spaces. 🕸️ Our background screening, literacy training, and policies are designed to function as a team, and when leveraged effectively, they combat and control all types of risks that may lurk even in the darkest corners of social and digital media. 👀🥷 1 - 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 & 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 🧑💻 A standardised, objective, and measurable process that is used to assess a range of publicly available digital data. This offers insight into an individual’s online behaviour, enabling a deeper understanding of who they are and the potential impact they may have on a business. This process equips organisations with actionable knowledge to make more informed, data-driven decisions. It should be initiated during the hiring phase to identify high-quality candidates, but also employed on a recurring basis to mitigate risk. 2 - 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 🧠 A carefully curated elearning course where employees are educated and upskilled to manage their social media effectively and safely, with a focus on both the risks and benefits. It covers conduct, knowledge, and understanding, equipping employees with the skills to navigate social media responsibly. As a result, they can become brand ambassadors rather than potential sources of reputational risk. 3 - 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 & 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 📑 The final piece of the puzzle, ensuring that all components function cohesively. This should take the form of a stand-alone policy that guides employees and serves as a set of rules to protect the organisation. This guarantees that measures are in place to manage situations that may arise in the future. The ongoing growth in the popularity of social and digital media, alongside the constant development of new platforms, only reinforces the need for these solutions in businesses. With nearly a decade of experience in this risk space, it’s evident that Farosian’s unique ecosystem is an essential set of tools in any organisation’s arsenal, no matter its size, to manage and mitigate the digital-world risks we face today. 🛡️ . . . #riskmanagement #riskmitigation #DueDiligence #backgroundscreening #backgroundchecks #online #Socialmedia #SocialMediaBackgroundScreening #HR #recruitment #DataDriven #innovation #future #eLearning #upskill #educate #CPDpoints #Policy #policydesign #brand #reputation #BusinessStrategy #businesstools

Earlier in September, Farosian collaborated with EasyHQ and XTND on a webinar episode, where the CEOs of both parties came together to share their expertise and insights into how organisations can improve security and efficiency in the employee onboarding process, especially given our population’s ever-growing reliance on technology and social media in an increasingly digital-first world. 🌐🧑💻 Farhad Bhyat’s discussion on social media and its evolution to play a pivotal role in safe and efficient recruitment and background screening within today’s digital landscape provided attendees with much food for thought, leaving many to question whether traditional checks and outdated procedures are sufficient enough to manage and mitigate the modern-day risks businesses face. 🔐⚠️ If you weren’t able to attend on the day, check out the recording on YouTube. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://lnkd.in/dxTCwmh2 #webinar #youtube #Podcast #educate #upskill #recruitment #recruiters #HR #hiring #Socialmedia #backgroundchecks #safety #security #riskmanagement #riskmitigation #fraud #corruption #businessstrategy #innovation #technology #future

𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚’𝗦 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗖𝗬𝗖𝗟𝗘 🔄 Let’s take another peek at a snippet of data from Farosian’s recruitment paper—a white paper showcasing findings derived from the analysis of 9,708 data subjects. The nearly 50% reduction in the average placement cycle due to the implementation of social media background screening is yet another clear indication of this type of background check’s capabilities. 😱 For recruiters, the implementation of social media background screening can help: 🏄♂️ Streamline the placement cycle process 💵 Reduce the overall cost per hire 📈 Increase the number of placed candidates 🚮 Prevent your organisation or your clients from using valuable resources on high-risk candidates during the onboarding stage All of these outcomes ripple into a positive impact on an agency’s bottom line, allowing for greater profits, the development of a strong reputation in the recruitment industry, and the fostering of positive client relationships. 💪 Looking at the data below, it’s striking to see that the average placement cycle without social media background screening takes nearly a month! By incorporating social media background screening into your recruitment process, you could nearly double your placements within the same timeframe, and you’ll be equipped with the data and insight to help you weed out potentially harmful candidates and place those who would be the best fit for your organisation or your client’s. Make the smarter, data-driven decision to fine-tune your recruitment strategy for efficiency and success with Farosian. 🤝 . . . #Socialmedia #backgroundcheck #screening #DueDiligence #Data #insight #WhitePaper #DataDriven #recruitment #HR #hiring #recruiting #recruiting #placement #candidate #onboarding #retention #tenure #employeeretention #employeeexperience #companyculture #customerservice #customersatisfaction #rectech #hrtech #socialmediascreening #SocialMediaBackgroundCheck

𝙊𝙒𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝘼 𝙒𝙊𝙍𝘿 A recent LinkedIn post by Adam Levinter, which offered valuable food-for-thought, spurred us to reflect on Farosian as a brand—our image in the minds of consumers and our authority in the market space. 💭 Successful, reputable brands recognised as leaders in their respective sectors often develop a strong image directly tied to their identity, values, and the quality of their products or services. Such brands are usually synonymous with a single word that they are said to ‘own’—for example, Netflix = Entertainment, Spotify = Music, takealot.com = Convenience— a word intended to establish focus and exclusivity for the brand amongst consumers and within the market. 🧠 We asked our team to take an outside-in approach, looking at Farosian from a consumer perspective, and to think of a word that would be synonymous with our brand—a word we could ‘own’. Being the innate analytical thinkers and innovative solution-seekers that we are, simply stating these words seemed far too mundane. Let us know if you can spot any of the words submitted by our team members in the puzzle below 🧩⬇️, and whether any one word, in particular, stands out as the word you believe Farosian ‘owns’. Farosian’s footprint in the social and digital media risk mitigation and management space continues to grow as we strive to become industry leaders and the go-to solution providers globally. Maintaining a strong presence and brand image remains a crucial asset in achieving this goal. 🏆🌐 . . . #brandimage #brandidentity #brandreputation #industryleader #Focus #Exclusivity #Clarity #strategy #BrandStrategy #BusinessStrategy #success #entrepreneur #Farosian #brandstory

With Using Social Media Comes Great Responsibility 🕷️📲 In this snippet from Farosian’s webinar with LexisNexis South Africa, where we explored the impact of election season on people's social media behaviour and actions, Farhad Bhyat emphasises the responsibility we, as social media users, bear when it comes to implementing strong safety and privacy settings on our online profiles. 🌐 Leaving your profiles and content open for anyone online to view (and use) is not dissimilar to leaving your car unlocked with the keys inside. The simple act of using social media makes you a 'celebrity' within the circle of your network and followers, no matter how big or small. Therefore, understanding the purpose of your social media profile is key to determining the level of privacy you need to set. Many users who treat social media as a business tool have chosen to maintain multiple profiles—one with minimal privacy settings to grow their following and share business or influencer-related content 💼, and another with high safety and privacy settings reserved for close friends and family. 🫶 The responsibility to define your online purpose and leverage these privacy settings lies solely with the user. Navigating these processes can be overwhelming, and personal content or information can sometimes slip through the cracks into the public domain. This highlights the ongoing importance of social and digital media literacy for all who use these platforms. By taking advantage of available privacy tools and staying informed, we can better manage our digital identities and protect ourselves in an ever-evolving online landscape. 🧑💻 . . . #webinar #Podcast #CEO #insight #Socialmedia #digitalmedia #online #privacy #safety #privacyrisks #technology #settings #Celebrity #content #socialmediastrategy #digitalliteracy #publicdomain
