Today is the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. We must remember that education is a universal human right and that everyone, even during conflict, deserves access to a safe learning environment. Click this link - https://bit.ly/4d0Bvvc - for GCE's Statement on the occasion of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. According to the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack, there were nearly 6,000 reported attacks on education in 2022 and 2023, harming over 10,000 students and educators. This is unacceptable. We must do everything we can to protect our schools, students, and educators from violence. The Global Campaign for Education calls on all governments to adopt the Safe Schools Declaration, ensuring that schools are safe zones free from violence. Join us in calling for the protection of education and stand against violence in all its forms. #ProtectEducation #SafeSchools #InternationalDaytoProtectEducationfromAttack #EducationInEmergencies

We defend the right to everyone to free, quality public education.
About us
The Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is a civil society movement that promotes and defends education as a basic human right. We campaign and advocate at the international, regional and national level to put pressure on governments and the international community to deliver the right of everyone to a free, quality, public education. The GCE movement was founded in 1999, in the build-up to the World Education Forum in Dakar, to provide a platform to unify and coordinate civil society voices in relation to the global education agenda. Since then, the movement GCE has grown significantly, in particular through the expansion and consolidation of national civil society coalitions. Some important progress has been made, including 40 million more children in school. However, far more still needs to be done to realise the right to quality education for all. Today, the GCE represent over 100 national and regional education coalitions and international organisations. Our membership is comprised of a huge variety of national, regional and international civil society organisations, teachers’ organisations, parents’ associations, women’s group, disabled people’s organisation, youth and student groups, academic or research institutions and child rights campaigners. Our national coalitions encompass many thousands of civil society organisations and represent millions of individual across the world.

We are thrilled to have been part of the impactful meetings with MEPT, the National Education Coalition in Mozambique from July 23-25! Together with GIZ, we launched the 'Digital Generation' initiative, aiming to advance education for all in Mozambique. Our discussions with Deputy Director, José Mathe, of the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH), the dialogue session on the right to education, and the collaborations with the Association of Final Year University Students of Mozambique (AEFUM) and Andreia Soares from the National Education Cluster were truly inspiring. GCE's Wolfgang Leumer and Giovanna Modé participated in the meetings. Committed to making a difference! #EducationForAll #DigitalGeneration #GCE #Mozambique

This is the rationale behind our belief in peace education, which has been historically associated with the pursuit of structural solutions to conflicts." - Vernor Muñoz, Head of Policy and Advocacy, GCE. #hlpf2024
