A team from Grindrod, comprising colleagues from corporate services, Sturrock Grindrod Maritime (SGM), and Grindrod Logistics Africa (GLA), recently visited Inhlakanipho Secondary School in KwaMashu to launch the #WalkTheTalk Initiative. Inhlakanipho Secondary School is one of Grindrod's schools, which was adopted through the Adopt-A-School Foundation. This initiative celebrated the remarkable accomplishment of the 2023 matriculants' 100% pass rate and aimed to inspire the current Matric class to strive for excellence. Highlights of the event included: - Donation of 480 pairs of school shoes and 130 goodie bags. - Inspirational talks by: - Thandoxulo Vezi (GLA): Shared insights and tips from a former student's perspective. - Sikhumbuzo Mzindle (SGM): Discussed opportunities for dedicated students, mainly through Grindrod. - Thabo Moabi (GSA): Shared his experiences from June 16, 1976, to inspire a sense of progress. Our container depot in Durban has moved to 1616 South Coast Road, Mobeni! The container handling business, UCD, owned by Grindrod, has relocated its Durban facility to new premises. The new facilities include a 43 000 m² container yard and a refurbished 1 500 m² customs warehouse, equipped to manage all border authority inspections and overstays. Our specialised equipment comprises a 45-tonne reach stacker for full containers and two empty container handlers. Additionally, there are 240 plug points available for reefers. We provide reefer repairs, gassing, CA preps, cold treatments, and callouts. Furthermore, we are a certified warranty repair center for Carrier, Starcool, Daikin, and Thermoking. We are fully prepared to cater to all your container handling and storage needs! A team from Grindrod's bulk and break-bulk terminal facility in Walvis Bay and representatives from SGM, the ships agency business, will be exhibiting at the Chamber of Mines of Namibia Expo from the 7th to the 8th of August 2024. The Expo will be hosted at the Windhoek showgrounds and will be open to the public from 12h00 on the 7th of August. Earth Overshoot Day 2024. Grindrod's Terminals division is taking action to #MoveTheDate. We're proud to have partnered with Food & Trees for Africa to create sustainable vegetable gardens at schools in Durban and Richards Bay.
