Being prepared and knowing the proper steps to handle a spill can make all the difference in preventing injuries and minimizing damage. Here are some essential best practices for managing chemical spills safely: Key Tips for Handling Chemical Spills: Know Your Chemicals: - Familiarise yourself with the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals in your workplace. Understand the specific hazards associated with each chemical, including toxicity, flammability, and reactivity. - Make sure everyone knows where to find SDS and how to use them in case of a spill. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): - Ensure that appropriate PPE (such as gloves, goggles, respirators, and protective clothing) is available and used by anyone involved in spill response. - Ensure employees are trained in selecting and wearing the correct PPE based on the chemical hazard. Immediate Spill Containment: - Quickly contain the spill to prevent it from spreading. Use absorbent materials, spill kits, or barriers to isolate the spill area. - Ensure that spill kits are readily available and easily accessible in all areas where chemicals are used or stored. Ventilation and Evacuation: - If the spill involves toxic fumes or vapours, ventilate the area immediately by opening windows and doors or using exhaust fans. - Evacuate non-essential personnel from the spill area and ensure that only trained personnel handle the cleanup. You can print these codes and attach them directly to the items, making it easier than ever to access and complete registers on the go! Here’s How to Use the New QR Code Feature: 1. Generate the QR Code: - Open the register item. - Find the QR code on the right side. Right-click, copy it, and paste it into a Word document. - 📝 Pro Tip: Add the item's description under the QR code to avoid confusion. - Print it out and stick it to the item. - 🖨️ Pro Tip: Laminating the document ensures it stays durable! 2. Scan and Complete the Register: - Click on your Profile tab. - Select QR Code. - Your tablet's camera will open (remember to allow the system to use your camera if prompted). - Scan the code and complete the register right there!
