It was a very insightful meeting, covering topics like complex revisions, managing complications in peri-prosthetic joint infections, and exploring future trends in Arthroplasty with Al, AR, and Robotics. Today we’re introducing to you our ACS MB system. The ACS MB tibial components have a symmetrical design, so that the components can be used for the left as well as for the right side. The posterior notch allows the posterior cruciate ligament to be preserved. There are three different versions available. The MB tibial component basic has a relatively short stem and a little pronounced fin design allow a high degree of preservation of the tibial bone stock. The component features a conical portion to accomodate the PE-insert. The pronounced fins of the MB tibial component standard ensure optimal rotational stability. The distal cone offers the possibility to use stem extensions. The PE-inserts are accomodated via the conical portion of the component. Fins provide for the rotational stability of the MB SC tibial component. The conical connection allows the use of stem extensions without offset or with offset by use of the MB offset adapter. The cylindrical portion ensures a reliable acceptance of the PE-inserts in revision cases. Separated spacer for medial and lateral side can be fixed with a screw under the cemented tibial component. The MB SC tibial component is 2.5mm thicker than the primary MB tibial components. The anteroposterior and mediolateral dimensions are identical for all three designs. Following on from last week’s post regarding our ACS® mini-series, today we would like to show you our fixed bearing tibial component. The design of the fixed bearing tibial component allows for the use for primary as well as revision cases of the knee joint. The FB tibial component ensures an optimal bone coverage of the proximal tibia by an anatomic asymmetric design. Pronounced fins provide for rotational stability of the component. An inclination by 5° of the plateau compared to the axis of the stem (integrated posterior slope) facilitates the implantation of the component. Especially when using stem extensions, the stem will be aligned with the tibial intramedullary axis. Thus, in case of load-bearing situations a physiological load distribution happens. The medialized stem of the tibial component comes with a cone, which provides the option of using tibial stem extensions. The holes in the plateau of the cemented tibial component are filled with PMMA-plugs. If required, the plugs can be removed to fix tibial spacers with a screw. Furthermore, the PMMA-plug of the cone can be removed if stem extensions are required. What information about the ACS® Knee System are you interested in? It’s a new month and we would like to dedicate it to introducing our highly successful knee portfolio. Starting with the introduction of the ceramic-coated primary mobile bearing system, continuous design optimisations were performed in cooperation with various clinical partners. Subsequently, the fixed bearing system was developed, made from a successful orthopaedic implant material. Last but not least, the system is completed by multiple options for revision restorations. Whether mobile or fixed bearing variant, for primary interventions up to complex revision cases, the ACS® system offers an optimal solution individually for each patient. The components are available as cemented and cementless, as well as coated or uncoated versions. The same geometry of the articulation surface, as well as an identical inner contour of the femoral component from primary to revision allow a high degree of intraoperative flexibility and a maximum preservation of the bone substance. The instrumentation ensures a simple, intuitive surgical technique. The ACS® system -a flexible, versatile system- offers various femoral and tibial sizes for an excellent fit of the components and optimal bone coverage. Due to its modularity, the system offers a wide range of options. The primary mobile bearing and Fixed Bearing Tibia allow the use of stem extensions. A special mobile bearing SC tibial component is available for revisions, while the fixed bearing tibial component is used in both primary and revision surgery. Both femoral and tibial spacers of different heights are available to compensate for bone defects. Femoral and tibial stems of various lengths and diameters as well as offsets adapters can be used.
