Our friends at Sparrow Trust were recently mentioned in the The Citizen News about the work they're doing on the Southcoast in KZN and we're so proud of them. To date, Sparrow Trust has distributed 100 comfort packs for survivors of sexual, gender-based and domestic violence, as well as survivors of human trafficking and the system of prostitution. There's a link to their page on Facebook in the comments if you'd like to know more about Sparrow Trust! "Comfort packs are small gestures of love filled with essential items for victims of sexual, gender-based and domestic violence." Marina Elena Reyneke #AbolishSlavery #HumanTraffickingAwareness

About us
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN The National Freedom Network (NFN) was formally launched in May 2011, with the aim to connect all the various counter-Trafficking organisations with one another as well as with other role players across the movement. It has since grown into South Africa’s counter-Trafficking network. The NFN acts as a point of connection for anyone working in the counter-Trafficking field; as a channel of communication to ensure that interaction between sectors allows for the flow of information as well as the sharing of resources and best practices; and as a hub of much needed collaboration. Official Government-driven counter-Trafficking structures have also since been established over the past decade, both at Provincial and National level, and we work closely with these. VISION To see all sectors of the South African society organised and united in their efforts to prevent and combat trafficking in persons. MISSION To effectively prevent and combat trafficking in persons through strategic networking, collaboration and partnership.

These words written by our partners at Brave To Love really resonated deeply (link to the story in comment below) Expression of Love and Justice Love is a combination of three words; truth, justice and grace. 🎯 Truth is being honest and trustworthy. Love is lived out by being truthful with others where we go. Truth is being trustworthy. Darkness means to have the absence of light. Truth is what shines light and sets free those that have suffered the effects of lies and pain. Truth is more valuable than fame and money, it brings trust. Don’t only know the truth but learn to love the truth. The truth protects. ⚖️ Justice is not only the object of fairness but having sincere compassion. When we are moved by compassion we become fighters for justice for those that are weak, poor, abused and cast out of society. Justice is the active expression of God’s love! It chooses to fight for those who are suffering. It is far beyond the application of the law only. It stands up for ethics and morality. In the middle of it all is compassion, when we suffer from those that are suffering. We see it as the greatest honour to serve those that are victims of injustice helping them to receive fair treatment. ❤️ Grace is expressed in complete total acceptance. Grace is not just living forgiveness but literally is a giving of oneself. We love bravely by giving ourselves to others. Grace can not be earned or worked for, it is a free gift given. Grace is warm and joyous. When a person is completely accepted they truly show who they are. Grace creates a safe place for someone to rest and be. Grace sees the potential and possibilities. Such good news to start this week!
#BREAKINGNEWS Today, we celebrate the FREEDOM of three women in South Africa who were freed from exploitation. Two survivors were recovered from domestic servitude after community members stepped in and reported their situation. They will receive ongoing support, including legal assistance, as they prepare to be repatriated. Another woman was recovered from sexual exploitation during a police raid in partnership with A21. She will also receive comprehensive aftercare support to aid in her recovery and healing. We are honored to walk alongside these brave survivors on their journey to freedom. Your support makes this possible—thank you!

5 Arguments to Legalize/Fully Decriminalize Prostitution – DEBUNKED! (By: Stephanie Trendell - Find the full link to article to read the 5 Myths in comments) ➡️ Hospitalized by food that was served to her. ➡️ Forced to engage in sex acts in 24-hour shifts with no breaks. ➡️ Weapons often brought in by “customers.” ➡️ Denied her necessary medications. These are some of the heinous conditions experienced by Jane Doe in one of Nevada’s legal and “reputable” brothels. She was forced to live at the brothel, but was charged an exorbitant amount of money to stay there. The brothel was surrounded by a barbed wire fence and a gate, for which she had no key. She was not allowed to leave, or even go outside into the locked yard without asking permission. Half of her earnings were snatched from her by her bosses and they charged her astronomical fees for ludicrous things, like using too many towels. Because of the preposterous fees imposed by the brothel owners, Jane found herself in debt bondage to them. She was forced to live in an unconscionable environment in order to pay off an ever-mounting debt. Now, Jane Doe and the NCOSE Law Center have filed a lawsuit against the brothel owners, as well as Nevada government officials for its legalization of prostitution, which allowed the treatment by her bosses to be swept under the rug. Jane Doe is one of countless victims who has been sexually exploited in legal brothels. And it isn’t just happening in Nevada—it’s happening all around the world. *** There has long been controversy over the legalization and full decriminalization of prostitution. One of the key arguments in favor of legalization or full decriminalization is the notion that because prostitution will occur anyway, legalizing or decriminalizing will presumably make it safer for women and prostituted persons. But let’s examine that claim. Does Jane’s account of her life in a legal brothel sound like the legalization of prostitution has made the practice safer? In this article, we will offer a rebuttal to common arguments and myths frequently posited by the pro-prostitution (i.e. pro-organized sexual exploitation) lobby. How to prevent being trafficked! Important points to note, as taken from The Salvation Army South Africa's website. ❗❗❗Did you know: "Victims of trafficking are almost always introduced to the trafficker by someone they know!" 👉 An attractive job is offered to you that is far away from home — in another province or country. It may be a modelling contract, a waitressing job, or a contract with a soccer club. These offers may appear in newspapers or you may hear of them via word of mouth. 🏡 - No qualifications are required and free housing and transport is offered with the job, plus the free processing of your visa and/or work permit. 🛂 - The people you are dealing with organise for you to cross a border illegally. 🏫 A friend or relative offers to send you to an expensive/good school that is far from home and offers to pay your school fees. 🪪 Travel documents that were obtained by illegal means, are given to you. ❌ A recruitment agent tells you that a visitor’s or tourist visa is good enough for working purposes. 👉 Someone with whom you are chatting on social media platforms wants to meet with you face to face (to offer you work or a free holiday or an academic scholarship) Source: https://lnkd.in/ddfkzzxT National Freedom Network The Salvation Army Marina Elena Reyneke #HumanTraffickingAwareness #AbolishSlavery

We are so relieved to see that Joshlin's case has been referred to the Western Cape High Court and not struck off the roll. Praying for Joshlin that she may know the Lord's comfort and feel Him with her. Praying that she will be found and protected. Insert from the article: Siyabulela Monakali, communications manager at anti-gender-based violence organisation Ilitha Labantu, said the indictment revealed a deeply troubling reality in South Africa. He said the case underscored the vulnerabilities faced by children and the urgent need to combat child trafficking. “It is particularly distressing that a mother could allegedly orchestrate such a profound betrayal against her own child. The tragic reality that those entrusted with a child’s safety may perpetuate such acts of exploitation speaks to the dire need for vigilance and systemic change. We're so excited to share just a few pics from across South Africa for the #WalkForFreedom with The A21 Campaign event on Saturday, the 19th of October. Thousands of South Africans joined in solidarity to fight against human trafficking and create awareness of the desperate need for everyone to be involved where they can. Every little bit counts, and it certainly takes a caring community to stand together to build a force against the evil plans of wickedness. It was an emotional time of reflection and an acute awareness of far too many victims still enslaved and so many precious survivors needing much love, care, and acceptance.
