About us
Since our founding in 1998, Rise Against Hunger has grown exponentially, and the ways in which we seek to end hunger continue to evolve. From the implementation of sustainable community development projects to our meal packaging program that harnesses the passion of local volunteers, we strive to make a global impact on hunger by building resilience, self-sufficiency, and empowerment within communities. Driving Rise Against Hunger’s work is the recognition that ending hunger is more than just feeding people, which led us to focus our feeding programs in areas where we can have a real impact and expand hunger-fighting programs beyond meal packaging and distribution. Working together to implement this holistic approach to community development is #HowWeRise against poverty, against injustice and against hunger on a global scale. We invite you to take action and help build the movement to end hunger for good by hosting a meal packaging event, volunteering, becoming a hunger champion or taking other action. Our mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. We CAN end hunger by 2030 – and YOU can help: www.rahafrica.org

With hunger continuing to rise in Africa, we're focused on making a bigger impact than ever before. One of our key focuses this year is securing a steady flow of resources by increasing our meal revenue generation. We plan to do this by strengthening our partnerships and boosting our revenue efforts, hoping to provide immediate food relief while ensuring our work grows and sustains itself for the long term. This is just the start, and we're excited to share more of our strategy as the year unfolds. Stay tuned for updates on how we're working to create lasting change!

The need for disaster response is growing on a global scale. At Rise Against Hunger Africa, we’re preparing for a significant increase in requests due to factors such as droughts, flooding, and the displacement of communities caused by both natural and human-made events. As these challenges continue to escalate, we’re focused on strengthening our capacity to respond quickly and effectively. Our priority this year is to provide immediate relief and support to affected communities, helping them recover and rebuild in the face of adversity. We’re ready to meet these challenges and continue making a positive impact where it’s needed most.

We love a full-circle moment! Earlier this year, a group of United Airlines staff joined us for a Donor Impact Trip, where we visited some of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres we support. Inspired by what they saw, the team returned to the U.S. and raised funds to help the ECDs. Thanks to their incredible generosity, Place of Hope in Orange Farm now has a brand-new kitchen! But that’s not all - last month, another United Airlines group visited, and we had the privilege of officially inaugurating the new kitchen with them. Moments like these don’t happen often, so they’re extra special when they do. A massive thank you to the United Airlines team and all the donors who made this possible. You inspire us to continue moving forward, impacting lives, and making the world a better place. Orange Farm faces increasing challenges with food security, and this is just one more step towards turning that around. ❤️🙌
