Women like Shanti from Chhota village in Jharkhand, hailing from the Paharia tribe and classified as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), are now torchbearers 🏅of hygiene practices in their communities. What began as part of counselling sessions under our Mother and Child Health & Nutrition program has now become a regular practice. Shanti shares, "Before joining the program, no one in my community paid much attention to hygiene. But after realizing the importance of washing hands with soap 🧼 for my child’s health, I now make it a point to practice it, and even my husband follows this habit.” This simple yet impactful practice has brought a significant change, improving the understanding of hygiene and sanitation in several households. Under our program through community kitchens, we nourish lives and empower women 💪 as advocates of health, nutrition🌿 and hygiene while supporting maternal mother and child health as the 1000 Days approach unfolds. Active across 64 locations in Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, we serve pregnant women and lactating mothers, and children up to 24 months. As part of this program we provide nutritious cooked meals🍲, promote institutional deliveries 🏥, raise awareness about pre-and postnatal care, and offer counselling sessions. We also connect families to health services and facilitate access to government schemes like- Janani Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Additionally, we support Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day held monthly, and giving women a platform to voice their concerns. Ensuring a healthier future for pregnant women, lactating mothers and children through sustained efforts. #RiseAgainstHungerIndia #CSR #HygeineForHealth #WomenForChange #GrassrootsImpact #SustainableHealth #WellnessforAll #givingback #empoweringwomen #CaringForAll

Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world where everyone has access to quality food and nutrition at all times.
About us
Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world without hunger. Our mission is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and build a movement of hunger action champions. While communities work toward a future in which they can thrive, vulnerable families and individuals around the globe still have basic, immediate needs. That’s why Rise Against Hunger India supports safety net programs that provide nourishment, as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult journey out of poverty. Rise Against Hunger India meals are provided in schools to encourage increased enrollment and attendance. Meals distributed in hospitals and clinics supplement nutritional needs of patients recovering from TB, Cancer, HIV/AIDS and complement their treatments. For community empowerment programs, Rise Against Hunger India focuses on sustainable food security through community-based projects on climate smart agriculture, land and soil management, food production, storage and marketing, introduction of new technologies for small farmers. Rise Against Hunger India aims to increase agricultural production and incomes through programs promoting improved agricultural methods, business skills, and market access. We work with smallholder farmers to build resilience to the shocks and stresses of climate change by promoting ecological approaches to agriculture as well as diversification. Our recent SAMBAL Initiative aims to support rural households in hunger pockets in the country through farm and non-farm interventions. VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT No single agency or government can end hunger alone, and it will take everyone to make this a movement. Backed by a strong belief that anyone from anywhere, regardless of their age, gender, qualification can take action and make a positive difference in the fight against hunger, we have a range of volunteering initiatives that are open to all. Even seemingly small contributions can add up to a BIG impact.

Our #volunteerengagement program provides a very tangible and practical means for anyone who wants to make a difference. Volunteers 🙋♀️ participate in a direct hands-on activity where they package 📦 #nutritious meals to serve the needy. Every year, we organize group events across the country with thousands of volunteers who are employees from #corporate groups & other organizations, students from different schools and colleges, members of clubs & professional associations to package millions of meals. Every Saturday, we also open our volunteering programs in our office premises or in the warehouses in #Bangalore, #Delhi, #Mumbai and #Bhubaneswar. This is open for anyone and everyone who want to do connect with a cause and make a meaningful impact. Thanks to the volunteers who have been part of the Rise Against Hunger India volunteering experience through the #CommunityMealPackaging events. Because of your efforts, countless lives have been directly impacted through provision of essential meals. Those who want to #jointhemovement and take part in different volunteering activities (no fees or payments required), submit your details here: https://lnkd.in/g7GD5dze #riseagainsthungerindia #volunteering #mealpackaging #jointhemovement #beapartofthesolution #givingback #volunteerengagement #hungeraction

The Bonda tribe, one of the particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTG) formerly known as primitive tribes, resides in small villages in the hills of Odisha’s #Malkangiri district. The Bonda tribe is renowned for its distinctive culture, unique traditions, and aesthetics. Their art is primarily expressed through decorative tools, utensils, colorful fabrics, and intricate jewelry, particularly crafted by the women. Bonda women excel in creating ornate bead and shell necklaces, bracelets, earrings, head decorations, and other jewelry items. Leveraging this innate skill and craftsmanship, Rise Against Hunger India has launched a special Social Enterprise Development (SED) project. This initiative aims to sharpen their design and production skills, scaling up the production of marketable items that can provide a steady income source for the Bonda women. Approximately 150 women have enrolled in the SED program. Earlier this month, over 30 participants showcased their skills and received training in a product development workshop in the Bonda hills, creating multiple items to be assessed by a master craftsman with expertise in quality product design. A market survey has been conducted to assess the potential of various products. A producers' collective has already been formed to manage the production, sale and profit sharing process for the members. #Empowerment #SustainableDevelopment #RiseAgainstHungerIndia #SocialEnterprise #BondaTribe #IndigenousArt

Good health is the key to a prosperous nation. Recently, Rise Against Hunger India in association with Community Health Centre, Chandan block, Bihar organised a Rural Health Camp. A total of 103 people attended the camp, where they were screened for TB, malaria and other health conditions. 50 TB patients were identified and are now under care. Those in need of further medical assistance were referred to nearby government hospitals, and free medicines were distributed. This initiative brought much-needed relief to the community, leaving them eager for more such camps. #RiseAgainstHunger #HealthForAll #PublicHealth #RuralHealth

Pramila from Bandiguda, Odisha once found it difficult to make ends meet by selling seasonal fruits. After joining Rise Against Hunger India’s farming training program, she gained knowledge about organic farming and the concept of a kitchen garden. Upon completing her training, we provided her with seeds and compost to start her own garden. Today, her efforts have flourished beyond the kitchen garden. She has expanded her activities to her farmland, successfully cultivating a variety of organic vegetables. We are happy to see Pramila’s journey toward becoming self-reliant. #RiseAgainstHunger #RiseTogether #OrganicFarming #WomenInAgriculture
