NABA, Inc. Elevate - I closed last week at the 2023 NABA National Convention. The theme of the convention was Elevate and if you had an opportunity to attend, you were truly lifted. For me, this was homecoming. I have been developed by so many NABA Legends like Ralph Albert Thomas, CGMA, Ramona P., Les Netter, Starr Purdue, Bridget Kinard, Daniel Moore and many others that fought for a seat at the table and because of them and many others, I have a very important and relevant seat within our profession. As a NABA Lifetime Member, it was an honor to represent the AICPA to recognize NABA INC. and AICPA Scholars. These students are among the future of our profession, who will eventually lead us forward. It was a pleasure to also serve on the Accenture Disruptive Leadership Panel with Marty Rodgers, Craig Richey, Yolanda McMillian and Petrina Youhan, CPA, CISSP. Special Thank You to Innocent Obi for the opportunity. I also enjoyed meeting Malcolm Fernandes and KC McClure, among other Accenture leaders that showed up and showed out at Elevate. I also had the opportunity to participate in the Center for Audit Quality Accounting+ Campaign, spend quality time with my friends at EY - Kristin Valente, Innocent Shumba, Nicole Felix-Borders, Constant Djacga and Ken Bouyer and meet with members of the ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF BLACK ACCOUNTANTS OF SOUTHERN AFRICA (ABASA). I closed my time at Elevate introducing NABA INC. President & CEO, Guylaine Saint Juste and providing remarks for the C-Suite Plenary on Elevating Your Wellness and Shaping the Future of Black Business Leadership and meeting additional NABA students and members of the NABA Family.
