  • 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 #𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐎𝐟𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! On this day, we reflect on the transformative power of education to shape a brighter, more prosperous future for everyone. With support from USAID, 14 Zambian lecturers have travelled to the United States over the past five years to participate in a six-month residency FSU Global. These educators deepen their expertise in early grade reading, teaching methods, and research—skills that they bring home to Zambia to enhance education systems and build the foundations for economic transformation. This #InternationalDayOfEducation, we are proud to celebrate the partnership between the United States and Zambia. Together, we are building a better, more prosperous future for all.

Hope that everyone had a wonderful first week of classes! This semester Learning Systems Institute FSU is hosting educators from Zambia and Egypt to learn about the academic environment at Florida State University, expand their knowledge and participate in graduate level courses. The two fellows from Zambia are here as part of LSI’s USAID Transforming Teacher Education (TTE) project, which aims to improve pre-service teacher training in Zambia. The four fellows from Egypt are on-campus as part of another project supported by LSI called the USAID Teacher Excellence Initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of instruction in pre-service teacher education in Egypt. Wishing these fellows and all other FSU students, faculty and staff a wonderful spring semester! #fsuglobal

  • This farming 🌾 🌱 season, we’re driving agricultural transformation by connecting small and medium enterprises with outgrower groups and off-takers. By partnering with Good Nature Agro, USAID is helping farmers in remote areas purchase high-quality soybean seeds and other essential inputs that raise their productivity. With these essential inputs and a reliable market for their produce, lead farmers like Maybin Liyali and Douglas Ntini are helping dozens of farmers to increase their yields and boost their profits. By connecting producers, SMEs, and off-takers, we’re helping bridge the gap between production and market access, empowering SMEs and driving Zambia’s agricultural growth.

  • Have you heard? We’re teaming up with the Zambian government, traditional leaders, and civil society to empower women to participate in land and natural resource management. Speaking at the recently launched Women’s Land and Resource Rights Platform, Chieftainess Muwezwa II, made an impassioned call to chiefs to address gender disparities and empower women in their communities, and the Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Mike Mposha, lauded the platform as an important mechanism to promote the involvement of women and other marginalized groups in sustainable land and natural resource management in the country. USAID/Zambia is proud to support the Women’s Land and Resource Rights Platform - a coalition of civil society organizations who are committed to advancing women’s rights to land and resources. Together, we can elevate the voice and a role of women in protecting Zambia’s natural resources for generations to come. #GenderEquality #WomenLeadership #LandRights #Zambia #Sustainability

  • Timely access to HIV testing and medication is crucial in the fight against HIV. Health facilities need effective digital tools to manage their health products and accurately forecast future patient needs. With help from USAID, nearly 2,000 health facilities in Zambia have access to the Ministry of Health’s Electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS) making it possible for health facilities to manage their health products and essential medicines effectively. Together, we are building a healthier and more prosperous Zambia. 🇺🇸🤝🇿🇲

  • We’re excited to see partnerships between USAID and institutions like Mulungushi University advancing sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. Dr. Malunga Mwape, a lecturer at the University  helps local honey producers commercialize their business by introducing  value addition. Their innovative products, like honey drinks and biscuits, are now reaching markets in Congo DR and Malawi. Future plans include harvesting bee venom for biomedicine, opening even more opportunities for growth. Mulungushi University serves as an off-taker, providing a stable market for small and medium businesses and equipping them with vital skills in record keeping, business management, customer care, and loan acquisition. Together, we’re fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic growth in Zambia’s agricultural sector. #SustainableAgriculture #Entrepreneurship #HoneyProduction #Zambia

  • Join us in celebrating the incredible legacy of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, a champion of democracy, development, and global peace. President Carter passed away on December 29 at the age of 100. President Carter's connection to Zambia began during his time as U.S. President when he welcomed President Kenneth Kaunda to the White House in 1978. After Carter's presidency, he continued to support Zambia through The Carter Center - which he cofounded with his wife, former First Lady RosaLynn Carter. From 1986 to 1992, Carter Center agricultural programs, launched in partnership with Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA), introduced improved farming techniques to Zambian farmers, boosting food security and livelihoods across the country. In 1991, the Carter Center observed Zambia's first multiparty elections, helping pave the way for the nation's democratic progress. This involved underscored Carter's commitment to supporting free and fair elections globally. And since 2019, the Carter Center has collaborate with Zambian civil society organizations to enhance the democratic participation of women and youth, fostering a more inclusive political environment. As we reflect on President Carter's impact and legacy, we celebrate his unwavering dedication to fostering democracy, reducing poverty and strengthening global ties. #USwithZambia
