AI took centre stage in Dubai! 🚀 We were excited to support Google for Startups on their AI First Accelerator launch event in Dubai, bringing together AI-first startups from across Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, alongside key stakeholders from the ecosystem 💡 Hosted at DUBAI FUTURE FOUNDATION and the Google Dubai office over the past couple of days, the launch featured a VC panel on AI, with guest speakers H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi from Global Ventures, Luca Barbi from STV, and Tala A. from MEVCA Middle East Venture Capital Association, moderated by Kevin Holliday from C3, as well as a Founders Fireside Chat with insights shared by Jessica Scopacasa from Olive Gaea, Rami Darwish from Arrow Labs, and Kerem Alper from Neol, moderated by Google's Noa Havazelet. Day 2 of the launch featured a full day of engaging workshops and sessions with Google and C3 experts on a variety of subjects across tech and business, including a "Fundraising and Pitching to Investors" workshop delivered by Medea Nocentini, as well as "Building a Dream Team and Founder Leadership" by Nina Carpio. 🌍 We had an inspiring day at the Bridging Sustainability and Finance event last Thursday, hosted by the DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) Sustainability Hub in partnership with the Middle East Venture Capital Association (MEVCA) and C3! This unique gathering brought together sustainability-driven organisations and top venture capital professionals to explore the powerful intersection of sustainability and investment. Georges Hajj, Senior Director of Sustainable Finance at Emirates NBD, and Jessica Robinson, Partner at Solve Strategies, kicked off with insightful discussions on the latest trends and opportunities in sustainable finance. This was followed by a panel discussion with Medea Nocentini, Romain (رومان) Assunção, and Yana El Dirani, who led a thought-provoking conversation on "Sustainable Growth: The Investor’s Dilemma Between ESG and Returns," sparking meaningful discussions on balancing profit with purpose. Key insights from the event: 💼 Sustainable finance is on the rise, with a variety of funding options for companies to meet their sustainability-linked goals. 📈 ESG assets are projected to grow to $40 trillion by 2030, positioning businesses that embrace sustainability for a stronger future. 🌍 The UAE is stepping up its climate efforts with a new law aiming for net zero by 2050 – this is one of the many regulatory trends in this space, and we can expect to see more.
