EMASoH - European Maritime Awareness in the Strait of Hormuz

Today the Sunset Ceremony of EMASoH Operation AGENOR took place. The ceremony marked the end of the 12th rotation and the start of the vigilant state of EMASoH.   EMASoH carried out 291 accompaniments conducted by 47 naval ships that spent 1320 days at sea. Saw 21 Maritime Patrol Aircraft crews, maritime helicopters, and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft carrying out 3300 flight hours. The surface- and air assets conducted a total of 1457 reassurance calls to merchant vessels. These efforts contributed immensely to maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Gulf region.   We thank every person who contributed to the success of EMASoH over the past 4 years.

👤 Faces of EMASoH – Meet Khalifa   Khalifa is a first lieutenant of the 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates Navy and Liaison Officer to EMASoH.   As a liaison officer, Khalifa ensures that communication and coordination between the EMASoH staff and the UAE host nation is well arranged.   A well-established link between EMASoH and the UAE is essential for EMASoH to operate successfully in the region.

The 🇧🇪 Naval Ship Louise-Marie and the 🇫🇷 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, crew Wallaby Foxtrot of the #Atlantique2, concluded their direct support to EMASoH.   In cooperation with the 🇮🇹 Remotely Piloted Aircraft MQ-9 in associated support and the EMASoH staff, the Louise-Marie and the MPA contributed hugely to maritime security in the Gulf region in multiple dimensions.   Furthermore, 13 accompaniments of merchant ships were carried out by the Louise-Marie and the MPA Atlantique 2 flew 68 hours in the last month safeguarding freedom of navigation.   TheBelgian Navy Marine Nationale Aeronautica Militare

The 🇧🇪 Naval Ship Louise Marie, operating in direct support to EMASoH, engaged with the 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates Navy and conducted a Manoeuvring Exercise together before hosting the 🇦🇪 Navy onboard.   This exercise is one more token of confidence the UAE has in the work carried out by the EMASoH crews. 👤 Faces of EMASoH – Meet Sabrina 🇳🇱   Sabrina is a logistics officer by trade and is now committed as a reserve officer to the Koninklijke Marine serving for 7 months as Chief of Staff of EMASoH during the Command of Belgium and the Netherlands.   She has a leading role in the business continuity of the staff to secure the freedom of navigation for the shipping industry, and in preparing EMASoH for the next phase.   Sabrina enjoys working within the multinational staff and experiences operational, strategic and political challenges in a very interesting geopolitical environment. Back in the Netherlands, she will continue her work as a strategic advisor for the Dutch Ministerie van Defensie

Recently EMASoH visited BESIX. Founded in 1909, BESIX has grown into a multidisciplinary company with a leading position in its markets: construction, property development and concessions.   In the UAE 🇦🇪 BESIX constructed magnificent landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s Uptown Tower, and The Royal Atlantis. These projects rely heavily on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.   EMASoH was delighted to engage with BESIX about maritime security and further development of European regional collaboration.

Yesterday the 🇧🇪 frigate Louise-Marie successfully accompanied the 🇧🇪 merchant vessel KRUIBEKE of Exmar out of the Strait of Hormuz contributing to #freedomofnavigation and #maritimesecurity in the Gulf region.   We thank the crew of the Louise-Marie and wish the crew of the Kruibeke a safe continuation of their voyage.   TheBelgian Navy #EXMAR

🇫🇷 🛫 Crew Wallaby Foxtrot of the maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) in action with the #Atlantique2, supporting EMASoH in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf region.   Their work contributes tremendously to establishing maritime awareness and reassurance to shipping in the Gulf region. In the last 3 weeks, Wallaby Foxtrot conducted 68 flight hours for EMASoH and broadcast a staggering total number of 57 reassurance calls to merchant vessels. 

EMASoH Operation AGENOR welcomes the Belgian Naval Ship Louise-Marie in direct support ready to contribute to #maritimesecurity and #freedomofnavigation in the Gulf region. The F931 Louise-Marie, named after Queen Louise-Marie of Belgium, is a Karel Doorman-class frigate of TheBelgian Navy and was commissioned in 2008.
