Did you know that we are the official partners for the UAE National Sequestration Plan? Under our Trees Matter initiative we support the UAE target to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030. Mangrove forests play a key role in protecting the UAE's coastlines from rising sea levels and storms, they provide habitats for marine species, and act as natural carbon sinks. The UAE is home to 60 million mangrove trees, covering an area of 183 square kilometres that capture 43,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. With the addition of 100 million mangrove trees, the total cover will reach 483 square kilometres that can capture 115,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually! As we continue to grow, we recently moved into a bigger office to accommodate our expanding team! 🏢 With the new space came the need for furniture, and instead of purchasing brand-new items, we decided to take a more sustainable approach by reaching out to our amazing partners to see if they had any pieces that could be repurposed. 💡 To our delight, du stepped up and gifted a beautiful table and 6 chairs in perfect condition! 🙌 This helped save resources while supporting our commitment to sustainability. We encourage every business to consider this approach—repurposing or reusing furniture instead of buying new pieces, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. P.S. 🌍 Transforming Waste into Value with Goumbook and JCDecaux 🌍 We are thrilled to share the success of our recent CSR workshop with JCDecaux. This sustainable pottery workshop showcased the incredible potential of repurposing construction and plastic waste into beautiful, functional art pieces 🔹 Innovative Materials: Participants crafted their own molds using used plastic containers and tetra-packs, while replacing traditional clay with a cement waste mixture. This not only reduces landfill waste but also promotes the use of alternative, eco-friendly materials in creative industries. 🔹 Creative Expression: The workshop encouraged creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, resulting in a variety of unique and sometimes unconventional pottery pieces. It's inspiring to see how constraints can fuel innovation! 🔹 Sustainability in Action: By utilising construction waste, we demonstrated a practical approach to sustainability, highlighting the importance of responsible waste management and the circular economy. A big thank you to everyone who participated and to JCDecaux for partnering with us on this meaningful project. Due to the unique structure of the octopus's nervous system, each of its eight arms can essentially think for itself. This gives it amazing flexibility and creativity when facing a new situation or problem. Just like the octopus's radically different nervous system and autonomously thinking appendages have inspired research such as developing flexible robots made of soft materials, we at Goumbook feel inspired by these amazing mollusks' adaptability and intelligence. Like the octopus, we believe that flexibility and forward-thinking are essential when confronting environmental challenges.
