🔔🆕 New Resources for Climate Adaptation of Mountain Destinations Recently, #BeyondSnow released two important resources, the Adaptation Report and the Resilience and Adaptation Model (RAM), which provide valuable tools for destinations to diversify tourism offerings and reduce dependence on increasingly unpredictable snow conditions. ➡️ Adaptation Report: A comprehensive overview of current adaptation strategies, offering practical examples to help mountain destinations diversify their tourism offers and reduce reliance on snow. ➡️ Resilience and Adaptation Model (RAM): A structured tool that helps destinations assess their climate vulnerability and develop data-driven resilience strategies. In addition, a digital tool is currently being developed that will be made available to all destinations in the Alps in all Alpine languages, enabling them to analyse their status quo on the topic of climate change resilience and facilitating decisions on measures. Stay tuned! 🔔📬 Find all the information in the new PRESS RELEASE on our website and the documents in the comments below. #BeyondSnow pilot region "Future Workshop" September 2024 This year and in recent months, the focus of work in this Interreg Alpine Space project has been on a participatory process with the stakeholders in the pilot regions, in our case the municipality of Werfenweng. 🗨️✍️ Numerous exchanges and interviews, workshops, an excursion and surveys were conducted, always with a view to the topics of climate change adaptation, resilience and tourism. In September, Sarah Twardella and Giovanni Vassena carried out another workshop with a focus on the definition of action fields - diving deeper into the local realities, observing needs and wishes and also using the previously collected results. When working on fields of action, we identified which topics are important for resilience and tourism in Werfenweng. 💛 We are grateful for the active and creative involvement of the participants and would like to give a special thanks to Josef Holzmann and Antonia Breljak from Werfenweng Tourismus for their excellent cooperation and the moderation support provided by Christina Duller and Andreas Pölzl. #projects #Interreg #AlpineSpace #tourism #resilience #Werfenweng

🗓️ On 27 September, Alpine Pearls participated in the FU-TOURISM Info Day, hosted by SYNYO GmbH. This event was all about supporting SMEs in the tourism sector as they transition to a more digital and sustainable future. The FU-TOURISM project funds and advises over 100 innovative projects in this space. Our project manager Sarah Zuschnig represented #AlpinePearls and had the opportunity to share our sustainable tourism initiatives, gave an overview of current project activities and participated in a panel discussion on how SMEs can overcome the challenges of digital transformation while adopting sustainable practices. Key takeaways from the event: 🗝️ Financial constraints and the need for a shift in mindset were recognized as key obstacles for SMEs adopting digital and sustainable solutions. 🗝️ Collaboration and knowledge-sharing between SMEs are critical to reducing costs and accelerating innovation. 🗝️ Innovative digital tools - such as personalised platforms that provide real-time visitor information and tailored experiences - can help manage visitor flows and promote more sustainable tourism. Many thanks to SYNYO for the invitation and lots of interesting insights into your project and network! #alpinepearls #events #SME #tourism

Further steps completed ✅ With great enthusiasm, expertise and creative ideas, representatives from tourism, mobility, gastronomy, and hospitality sectors in our pilot municipalities Werfenweng, Weissensee, and Mallnitz actively participated in the measures workshops of the FFG-funded #AUTOFREI project. Our goal: advancement of climate-friendly leisure and tourism mobility. 🔍 Over the past months, target group-specific surveys were conducted in these pilot communities and focused on the three target groups: tourists, the local community, and tourism staff. Based on these insights, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and EGTC Alpine Pearls developed personas and carried out a comparative best practice analysis, that helped us identify gaps and needs for better accessibility and climate-friendly mobility in the communities. All of these findings and the proposed measures were further analysed through four critical lenses together with the decision-makers and local experts: responsibility, opportunities for cooperation, barriers, and implementation requirements, always considering the unique local context of each community. 🔜 The next milestone is the further development and submission of concrete concepts to the municipalities after the measures have been analysed again for their impact with the help of a special planning tool. #projects #sustainable #climatefriendly #tourism #mobility #AUTOFREI #CARFREE #greentourism #AlpinePearls FFG Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH

🚲🚌 This week the focus is on mobility in Europe. The #EuropeanMobilityWeek is currently under the motto "Shared Public Space" and allows cities and municipalities to make climate-friendly and future-oriented mobility offers visible on-site and inspire others. We are convinced that this initiative is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and pave the way for a more climate-friendly, energy-efficient future. Let's have a look at some examples from Austria and Slovenia: ➡️ In Carinthia, including our members #Weissensee and #Mallnitz, during the European Mobility Week, there are the so-called "Umsteigertage", where everyone can try out all connections of the Carinthian public transport network without a ticket, without registration, and for free. ➡️In the state of Salzburg, including #Werfenweng, the "Benzinfreitage" (Gasoline-Free Days) will take place from September 20-24, when all public transport in the region is free of charge. ➡️ #Bohinj is participating in the European Mobility Week for the eighth time this year. Numerous activities are planned to promote sustainable mobility, such as the "White Bunny" game in kindergarten, where children learn about eco-friendly mobility. In schools, students will be encouraged to walk, cycle, or take public transport. A free bike service and a presentation on alternative transport options are also part of the program. Join us in celebrating European Mobility Week and let’s work together to shape a more sustainable #mobility! #alpinepearls #sustainable Tourism Bohinj Green Movement Werfenweng Tourismus Thomas Michor

📝 As in the winter season, we are conducting a new online #survey in summer as part of the #BeyondSnow project in our pilot region Werfenweng. Questions include favourite activities during the stay, experiences of restrictions through climate change effects and personal opinions on the attractiveness of the pilot region in context with future CC effects. Scientific experts from the lead partner Eurac Research will be responsible for compiling and analysing the survey, which will be used to analyse all Alpine pilot regions participating in the project. 📊 We are already looking forward to the results, especially because the summer is a very strong season in Werfenweng. Some intermediate results will already be discussed in our next local stakeholder workshops. How do you perceive climate change in your region from the perspective of a resident or tourist? #projects #AlpinePearls #tourism #snow #werfenweng photos: Werfenweng Tourismus
