At Austrian, quite a lot of women are taking off. But not just on planes. 😉 We celebrate our over 3.300 women, today, tomorrow and every day. 💪 They keep everything running — from maintaining our planes, taking care of our guests’ safety, recruiting new talents, to making sure we fly into the future more sustainably and so much more. After all, women make up 55 percent of our Austrian team. To highlight the diversity of women at Austrian, we visited some of our wonderful colleagues to showcase their work. Thank you for being such a driving force in shaping the future of aviation with us. ❤️ Together, we are flying higher! ✈️ #IWD2025 #Weltfrauentag #womenempowerment #diversity #inclusion #aviation

♻️ Turning old into useful – the pioneer project ‘Uniform Recycling’! 👔 On this World Recycling Day, we’re happy to launch a joint return system for used uniforms together with our fantastic colleagues from City Airport Train / City Air Terminal Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, ÖBB, Österreichische Post AG, SALESIANER Gruppe and Wiener Linien. And there is a lot to do: around 31,500 employees in our companies wear recyclable workwear in their daily work. In addition, SALESIANER colleagues provide thousands of people with rental workwear every day. In a joint pilot project, we are now giving these uniforms a second life after use and feeding them into an innovative recycling process. True to the motto ‘Second life for the 1er-Panier’ (translation aid: 1er-Panier is the Viennese synonym for ‘festive garment’ 😊 - the collective term for all our beautiful uniforms). And that's what it's all about: thanks to the circular economy in practice, we can avoid around 50 tonnes of textile waste every year during the pilot phase - which is roughly equivalent to the weight of 170,000 shirts👚. At the same time, the project is intended to serve as a role model and encourage other companies to join in the sustainable recycling of uniforms. The collected uniforms and used textiles are collected at a location in Lower Austria. There, they are sorted manually into quality classes according to fibre type and processing form. The recyclable materials are then delivered to the recycling sites in Germany and Portugal by environmentally friendly rail transport. There, specialised partner companies take care of the mechanical fibre recovery and further processing into new yarns or filling material, for example. Thanks also to our partners EY denkstatt Österreich and TURNS faserkreislauf for their comprehensive support! Together, we’re taking an important step towards a #circulareconony —because every thread counts. #Sustainability #Recycling #WorldRecyclingDay

Austrian Airlines has managed to achieve a solid annual result in light of the challenging environment in the previous year. The airline's adjusted EBIT was significantly positive again in 2024, amounting to 76 million euros, although this result was 40 percent lower than the record result in 2023. This led to an EBIT margin of 3.1 percent, down from 5.4 percent in 2023. The preliminary result still needs to be formally approved by the supervisory board in its meeting on March 18, 2025. The decline is primarily based on two one-time effects. Operational meetings, strike days, and the associated booking hesitance in the context of the months-long collective tariff conflict with flight personnel led to a loss of approximately 35 million euros. Additionally, the Middle East conflict, which forced the red-white-red airline to suspend numerous connections to the region for several months, significantly impacted the results with a loss of around 40 million euros. In the future, Austrian Airlines will invest even more in its customers and the "flying experience": The modernization of the long-haul fleet has already begun. As part of the southern expansion at Vienna Airport, 5,000 m² of modern lounge areas are currently being created, which will open in 2027. Furthermore, a comprehensive new culinary concept is being developed to better meet the demands of genuine Austrian hospitality based on customer needs. Double-digit millions will also be invested each year in the further development of digital processes to continuously optimize the already award-winning app and website for our customers and to add new services. In the medium term, the airline's goal is an EBIT margin of 8 percent and a result in the clearly three-digit million range.

Love is not only in the air - but also on ground ❤. At least at Austrian Airlines: Just like our colleagues Magdalena and Dominik. Both are Passenger Service Agents and in this role take care of the concerns of our passengers on the ground. It was precisely in this job that they met and fell in love at the beginning of last year. They now not only share an employer, but also a love of cooking and going for walks together in their free time. With this in mind, we wish you a great day full of love - in the air and on the ground 💖🌟 #HappyValentinesDay Photo credit: Austrian Airlines / DBS
