🌍 🏗️ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 On 19 March, 2025 the 𝗡𝗲𝘁-𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗡𝗜𝗠) brought together 𝟲𝟰 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝟭 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 to explore one of the most complex but crucial challenges in industrial decarbonisation: 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. With cement responsible for ~8% of global CO₂ emissions, the urgency for innovation and action has never been greater, and the solutions are already taking shape: 🔹 Urban Peyker (NIM Director) set the scene with NIM’s goal of 50+ large-scale demonstration projects by 2030. 🔹 Paul Adeleke (GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association) outlined a global roadmap to reduce cement emissions by 20–25% by 2030. 🔹 Florian Kleinwächter (Holcim Germany) presented a carbon-neutral cement plant in Germany. 🔹 Davide Zampini (Cemex) showcased solar-powered clinker production. 🔹 Anne DeKeukelaere (EPFL) introduced LC3 – a low-carbon cement that cuts emissions by up to 40%. A heartfelt 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 for sharing insights, inspiration and ambition. Special thanks to Dr Alan Monaghan, NIM Mission Coordinator, for skilfully moderating the session and guiding us through a rich and thoughtful Q&A. The message is clear: collaboration, innovation, and enabling policy are the foundations of a net-zero future. This is how we build—𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆, 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 📺 Missed this webinar? NIM - The Net-Zero Industries Mission
Außenhandel und internationale Entwicklung
Our goal is to catalyse the demonstration of solutions for the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries by 2030.
Info
The Net-Zero Industries Mission (NIM) is a collaboration across countries, government, and industry to drive and accelerate the adoption of decarbonisation technologies by hard-to-abate, energy intensive industries. Whether it be iron and steelmaking, production of cement and lime, the chemicals and refining industry, or other associated energy intensive industries like aluminium and alumina, decarbonisation requires multiple technical solutions, and a new way of supporting these industries in the investments and risks they must undertake if they are to meet the targets society demands for 2030 and 2050 in achieving net zero.
