    🔴 INTRODUCING: New Gumball Component & Drawing Tools! ✏️ 📐 For years, ShapeDiver has supported the customization of models with parameters like sliders, dropdowns, text, and much more. But sometimes this isn’t enough. Sometimes, you need to fine-tune geometry or draw something WITHIN the 3D Viewer to get the best results and ensure a convenient workflow. That’s why, in our webinar on Tuesday next week, we will highlight two new features our team developed over the past months: - The Gumball: The new Gumball Component on our #Grasshopper3D plugin lets you translate, rotate, and scale selected objects in the 3D viewer. The resulting transformations are then sent to our servers, where the logic of your Grasshopper file can decide what to do with these transformations. In the video below, you can see two basic examples of how the Gumball can be used to transform objects. - The Drawing Tools: Creating points and lines, or editing existing points and lines, has been a feature our users have asked for for some time, and we’ve answered. With this new feature, you can create building outlines and edit them, as shown in the video below. But of course, this feature isn’t restricted to outlines. Any line can be edited! 👉 Register Now: https://lnkd.in/das7qbvr As you might have seen in our recent LinkedIn posts, a big focus for us in the past few months has been App Builder, a new way to define everything in Grasshopper without the need for coding. Once again, this applies here. Both the Gumball and the Drawing Tools are features that will be included in App Builder, allowing you to define all of the properties in Grasshopper without having to write a single line of code! 📹 The video below shows three models demonstrating these two new features. The first model uses the Gumball component to change the proximity of a sphere, affecting the lattice structure. The second model uses the Gumball to change the translation and orientation of an object surrounding another object.     Last year, we had the pleasure of sharing an interview with Dan Cole from Webb Yates Engineers on the ShapeDiver blog. In this interview, Dan shared how he leverages Grasshopper to eliminate boring, mundane tasks, allowing him to focus on the exciting and creative aspects of design (link to interview in the comment section below 👇). He also shares the story behind Cactus—an in-house carbon counting tool with an accessible user interface that any engineer at Webb Yates can use. Recognizing its potential impact, Dan and his team later launched a public version of Cactus, making it available to engineers everywhere! I’m excited to share that Dan will be discussing Cactus during his talk at the Rhino User Meeting in Berlin on October 18th. IMO, understanding how to develop and implement tools like Cactus should be a priority for computational designers in the AEC space. By using the new Interaction Components, your end users can start interacting with geometry directly in the online viewer and feed the information back to Grasshopper to trigger new computations. We also introduced dynamic inputs and state management into the mix.     One year ago, I faced a daunting challenge: diving deep into developing best-practice code for 3D web applications using React and ShapeDiver 🐰🕳️. The catch? I had to succeed by a fixed deadline. I had committed to delivering a workshop on this very topic at #AECTech 2023 in NY, organized by CORE studio at Thornton Tomasetti. The pressure was on, and I refactored the code multiple times (curious why? Let's chat in the comments!). It was a race against time, but pushing myself was worth it 😅. Since then, we've continued to enhance the code and have released it as the App Builder SDK – and yes, it's open-source! This SDK is the foundation of our latest flagship feature App Builder, which allows to create flexible, customizable single-page 3D web apps using only Grasshopper.
