The role of thermal energy storage (TES) in enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings has never been more critical. 🌎 Recent advancements are paving the way for greener, smarter buildings that optimize energy use, reduce costs, and support decarbonization goals. 💡 Key Innovations in TES for #GreenBuildings: Phase-Change Materials (PCMs) are now being incorporated into building materials to act as thermal batteries, storing and releasing energy as needed. This boosts indoor comfort and reduces energy consumption. Collaborative research initiatives are accelerating the development of TES solutions, helping buildings balance energy demand and supply more effectively. Studies also show that integrating TES in buildings can significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs, contributing to a more sustainable future. The potential of TES is huge: it not only reduces reliance on non-renewable energy sources but also supports the move towards zero-carbon buildings🏗️🔋💚 In BIOBUILD, we are working with Universitat de Lleida GREiA Research Group who designs, produces and commissions prototype houses with the novel flooring and wallboards in the demonstration sites based in Sweden and Spain. UDL is responsible for assessing the feasibility of the impregnated solid wood that serves for the thermal energy storage in addition to collecting and analysing the data on the thermal performance of the demo buildings! #GreenBuildings #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #ThermalEnergyStorage #BuildingInnovation #Decarbonization #PhaseChangeMaterials #TES

🌱 Mycelium: A New Era in Sustainable Construction 🌱 Have you heard of mycelium? Its the vegetative body of fungi, acting as a key living ingredient able to colonise and bind together natural fibers.. As highlighted in the recent Mycelium 2025 report MycoStories, mycelium is revolutionizing how we think about building materials. At BIOBUILD, we are developing mycelium wallboards that integrate bioPCM (Phase Change Material) for thermal energy storage. These wallboards are a fully bio-based solution, not only sustainable but practical for the building industry. At the end of their life cycle, they can be easily shredded and recycled into new bio-composites, with at least 30% of the material reusable. These innovations represent a shift towards more environmentally conscious alternatives to traditional construction materials. With the growing focus on green building practices and sustainability, mycelium-based solutions are a step forward in reducing the environmental footprint of buildings🏗️💚 #BIOBUILD #SustainableConstruction #GreenBuilding #Mycelium #CircularEconomy #Innovation #ConstructionMaterials #ThermalEnergyStorage #BioBased #Sustainability MOGU SQIM https://lnkd.in/dDw9pDsm
