    🏭 Manufacturing of implantable medical devices is highly regulated. 📐 Additive Surgical as a Spine Implant manufacturer, must comply to a Quality Management System (QMS), that includes requirements for risk management, documentation, process control, and preventative and corrective actions. ISO 13485 is a standard for establishing a QMS. 🖨️ Our Porossity™ spine implants must then be audited and approved in different jurisdictions through that jurisdictions relevant Regulatory / Conformity Assessment pathways. ❓❓❓ In very simple terms, a QMS can be seen as manufacturing site specific.     💡Additive Manufacturing has precipitated a paradigm shift in Medical Device implant manufacturing. 🚀 We now have the ability to create intricate and complex geometries into implantable medical devices, where the literature overwhelmingly supports the use of 3D printed titanium spine implants compared to PEEK or machined titanium implants. ❓Why are so many of the 3D Printed spine implants on the market consist of simple, orderly, repeating isometric pattern or basic stochastic lattices❓Bone doesn’t look or grow like this, (simple and orderly). 🙄 In short, because it’s easy to design and manufacture 🤷🏽♂️ Additive Surgical has in-sourced its entire supply chain to control our processes from Raw Powder to finished, sterile product.     🤩 Introducting another biomimetic lattice structure that Additive Surgical have meticulously mastered. 🧪 Our R&D team had a brief for this lattice which included some of the following objectives. 💡Very high surface area per cm3 💡Micro porosity of 20-30 µm 💡Macro porosity of 250 - 400 µm 💡Elasticity Modulus below 1 GPa 💡Highly reproducible 💪🏽This lattice is now developed and features as one of the key lattices in our PorOssity™ range of spine implants. Significant research was dedicated to achieving some of our goals. ➡️ Ideal Macro, Micro and Nano porosity features for osseointegration ➡️ Refined mechanical properties balancing mechanical strength with a very low modulus of elasticity ➡️ Structual cohesion allowing for manufacturability ➡️ Integration with other lattice structures in the one implant. 🔬This lattice is a core lattice structure in our new range of spinal implants.     ⭐️ Manufacturability ⭐️ 🙌🏽 Additive Surgical has taken a biomimetic focused approach to developing its world class range of spine implants. 🧐 The dedicated team spent years in R&D utilising computational analysis, advanced software, Finite Element Analysis, and many more techniques to invent the best possible biomimetic lattice structures designed to address some of the clinical challenges of spine surgery. 🔬We then turn toward manufacturability. Working tirelessly to ensure that 3D printing technology is capable to manufacturing these advanced lattices. ⁉️Many other med tech companies do it the other way around.
