We work with empowering leaders of industry, sport, education and the arts, creating a world of collaboration.
About us
At Aleda, we’re on a mission to inspire connections and work with empowering leaders within a diverse range of sectors across industry, sport, education, social venture and the arts. Creating a world of collaboration is integral to what we do and separates us from others in this space. We support people to learn, lead and collaborate and have been lucky enough to work with some of the world’s most decorated and inspiring leaders. Founded by Matt Wadewitz and Luke Darcy, Aleda was born out of a genuine desire to make good leaders great and to equip people with the tools and support to thrive in their individual environments. Our co-founder, Matt Wadewitz, said it best; “When we put aside our titles and see the leader in every person, when we focus on how we can support each other instead of what we can do to win, and when we foster a culture of collaboration, we can inspire our people and teams to achieve extraordinary things.” Every day we pinch ourselves at the people and cultures we find ourselves working with at Aleda. Across our Aleda Connect and LeadLearn programs, we have received recommendations from many outstanding leaders around the world: “Brilliant sessions, so much to take in, music to my ears... Thank you so much!!...It's been an incredible experience.’” - Mikel Arteta, Manager, Arsenal FC “I loved the learning from the other participants, the connection and the community created by our sessions. It was absolutely fantastic.” - Mim Bartlett, Mim Bartlett Consulting “Absolutely loved being a part of Aleda group. I have enjoyed getting to know other leaders from different areas and building a community of openness and trust.” - Sandy Brondello, Head Coach, New York Liberty You can book a discovery call to learn more about Aleda Connect or LeadLearn by visiting our website or listen to our Empowering Leaders podcast with Luke Darcy here: https://bit.ly/42LxV46

Today’s guest on the Empowering Leaders podcast is Paul Waterson, a man you may not instantly recognise, but is behind some of the country’s most loved pubs and hospitality venues. In this episode, Paul tells Luke Darcy about how a pivot in his early career as an ICU nurse following an injury, lead him on a career trajectory that is remarkable to say the least. From healthcare worker to founder and CEO of Australian Venue Co., which boasts over 200 hospitality venues Australia-wide - and the many huge successes in between - Paul shares so much of his wisdom in this episode. With tips for using technology and AI to grow your business, advice on scaling and downsizing, as well as a refreshingly honest conversation about his most challenging career moment, there is something here for everyone. Every now and then, you see the impact of truly great leadership and the flow-on effect it has in the days, years and decades after you’ve gone. Today’s guest on the Empowering Leaders podcast is AFL - Australian Football League captain of Melbourne Football Club, Max Gawn. Max is regarded as one of the greatest ruckman to ever play the game, leading his club to their first premiership flag in 57 years in the 2021 AFL Grand Final. An incredible leader in his own right, Max never fails to acknowledge the powerful influence the late Melbourne legend and co-founder of The Reach Foundation, Jim Stynes, has had on his life and career. Max’s down-to-earth and playful demeanour makes this episode a cracking listen; the story of a young man who overcame his fair share of hurdles to become a true champion who leads with kindness, and without judgement. The only thing better than hearing one legend of English football speak so highly of another, is the privilege of having them both part of our Aleda Connect family. Here, the great Rio Ferdinand tells Luke Darcy why he thinks Arsenal F.C manager Mikel Arteta is one of the greats. You can hear Rio’s full podcast episode here: https://bit.ly/3ZzqHRB

Today’s guest on the Empowering Leaders podcast is Valorie Kondos Field, affectionately known as ‘Miss Val’ to those lucky enough to have been coached by her. Valorie is the former head coach of the UCLA Gymnastics team, a position she held for 28 years, which saw her achieve meteoric leadership success. Among dozens of other accolades, Miss Val has been named four-time National Coach of the Year, Pac-12 Coach of the Century and in 2010, she was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. In this episode, she talks about how her initial ideas around leadership and coaching were turned on their head by the man who would go on to become her mentor; legendary basketball coach, John Wooden. The impact of Coach Wooden’s lessons profoundly impacted Miss Val’s life and career in a way that continues to drive her epic success to this day. She also shares the brilliance of the gymnastics GOAT, Simone Biles, gives advice to parents of children in sport, and shares the importance of communicating with ‘respectful honesty’.
