Nature loss and climate change present unprecedented challenges. Our latest article from Principal Consultant Juliana Bedggood, PhD unpacks what’s in this year’s federal budget for nature, focusing on the Nature Positive Plan, an update on the status of nature reforms, a breakdown of funding for nature - plus we share our four key takeaways. ✅ https://lnkd.in/gx6YyTmn "As the focus of climate action shifts from a predominantly emissions-based focus to a broader nature focus - Australian businesses should take a proactive stance in assessing and managing their nature risks, explore investment opportunities in the Nature Repair Market, enhance governance and compliance systems, and consider starting to measure natural capital. By doing so, they can navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, manage risk and discover opportunities while contributing to the restoration of nature." #NaturePositive #ClimateChange #Sustainability #Biodiversity #FederalBudget2024 #EPBCAct #Conservation #ClimateResilience Anthesis Group Marnie Telfer Michaela Young Leila Macadam, PhD

We recently supported Ian Witheridge and the IMB Bank team in preparing for the upcoming mandatory climate-related financial disclosures and Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ASRS). By conducting a comprehensive gap analysis, we identified key areas for improvement and developed a clear roadmap to ensure IMB Bank's compliance by FY26 and beyond. This foundational step is critical for aligning with the new disclosure regime and achieving long-term sustainability goals. Well done to the Anthesis team Gregor Theinschnack, Julian Soo, Renata Ulloa and Lucy Wedge. United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) has just released a new publication on ‘Scenarios for Assessing Climate-Related Risks: New Short-Term Scenario Narratives’. This guidance and tool, with the support of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) is filling a key gap in the climate scenario analysis field. This is welcome guidance to inform broader scenario analysis, particularly for companies wanting to understand short-term climate-related risks and how they could impact strategic and business plans, integration into existing risk management processes and preparing for upcoming mandatory reporting requirements. The scenarios and accompanying tool provide a globally consistent benchmark for a short-term focus of the well used and respected climate scenarios from Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), allowing banks and other firms around the world to understand what climate change and the transition to a low carbon economy could mean for them right now and in the next few years. #climaterisk #climatedisclosures #scenarioanalysis #climatescenarioanalysis https://lnkd.in/eCmAZ2NU
