📢 Historic Milestone for First Nations-Led Carbon Farming in Fiji! 🌏🌿 The First Nations Fiji Resources Foundation has successfully completed its first extensive community consultations with the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation, marking a major step forward for the voluntary carbon industry in Fiji! With over 500 participants from across multiple provinces, these groundbreaking consultations have paved the way for a First Nations-led carbon farming initiative, ensuring cultural values, sustainability, and self-determination remain at the heart of carbon projects. 🔹 A key outcome? The creation of a Public Registry, set to launch in late 2025, reinforcing Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and transparency in the sector. 🔹 Community-led discussions emphasised economic empowerment, environmental stewardship, and First Nations leadership in shaping Fiji’s carbon future. “This is an exciting step forward for First Nations leadership in the South Pacific,” said Rowan Foley, CEO of the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation. 👏 A huge thank you to the Fijian Government, Traditional Landowners, Elders, Chiefs, and community members who contributed to this historic moment. Together, we are ensuring long-term sustainability, integrity, and prosperity for First Nations communities.
