🌐🌏 Anduril Industries and Hanwha Defense USA have joined forces to submit a bid for the U.S. Army’s Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (S-MET) robot competition. As the prime contractor, Anduril plans to deliver a modified, autonomy-ready Uncrewed Ground Vehicle (UGV) based on Hanwha’s proven Arion-SMET platform. This collaboration represents a strategic move for both companies: Anduril: Expanding its land systems portfolio and aiming to compete across all domains, including land, for Pentagon contracts. Hanwha: Seeking a breakthrough into U.S. military programs through its subsidiary, Hanwha Defense USA, as part of its global push for military exports. Under the S-MET program, the Army aims to deploy 675 robots by October, capable of accompanying soldiers for over 60 miles in 72 hours, while carrying up to 1,000 pounds of supplies and spare gear. These robots may also provide external power for recharging hardware like night vision goggles or radios.
