The ACMA is pleased to have been recognised with an international award for regulatory excellence for the launch of BetStop – the National Self-Exclusion Register. The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) announced that the ACMA received the Regulatory Excellence Award at the 2024 global regulators conference, citing the complex delivery and regulatory challenges that were overcome to create Australia’s first centralised exclusion register. ACMA Chair Nerida O’Loughlin praised ACMA staff who worked on the initiative and success of the register in helping people make considered and supported decisions about their gambling. “The IAGR award for regulatory excellence is a recognition of the dedication and collaboration of ACMA staff in delivering this important safeguard, which has supported the more than 30,000 Australians registered to date,” Ms O’Loughlin said. https://lnkd.in/g3EvAP_U

Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) reposted this
A pleasure to join industry, government and people with a passion for spectrum for the Australian Communication and Media Authority’s 2024 RadComms conference. I announced that the Albanese Government will work closely with industry on a plan to secure the future of free-to-air television - with the first step to develop a discussion paper to be released for consultation next year. This important work will position free-to-air television to continue to inform, educate and entertain all Australians 📺 Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)

It was a pleasure to welcome everyone to RadComms 2024, the ACMA’s biggest spectrum management event. Over the next two days we look forward to hearing from a range of experts about developments in spectrum use that support Australia’s communications infrastructure and help drive our digital economy. For the ACMA’s part, our priorities as the spectrum regulator are to foster industry innovation, protect consumers, and manage the Commonwealth’s resources to the greatest good for the economy and the public. We approach these priorities with the current environment in mind, as well as with an eye to the future. https://lnkd.in/gHBRq-ht #RadComms2024
