About us
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national organisation responsible for implementing the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme across Australia, in partnership with the 15 National Boards. Guided by a nationally consistent law, Ahpra and the National Boards work to regulate the health professions in the public interest. This includes registering practitioners who are suitably trained and qualified to provide safe healthcare and investigating concerns about registered health practitioners. Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and before John Howard invented Harmony Day, we honoured today for what it represented. 🤔 So what is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination? “It's a day to stop and pay respect to the victims of the Sharpeville massacre, to all those who have died fighting against racism before and since." "It's a day to reflect on how we and the rest of the international community are doing at the crucial task of eliminating racial discrimination.” Quotes extracted from Luke Pearson’s video: “Debunking Australia’s “Harmony Day” (2025), you can watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/gKyD_dHd

The Close the Gap Campaign today calls on Australian governments to accelerate action to realise the objectives of the 'National Agreement on Closing the Gap'. Alongside demonstrating the critical work of our communities and organisations, the 'Close the Gap Campaign Report 2025' sends a clear message that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, leaders, organisations, and our allies will continue to hold governments to account for the limited progress towards meeting their commitments under the National Agreement. Lowitja Institute CEO Paul Stewart: 'The 2025 report demonstrates the necessity and the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ leadership for achieving sustainable outcomes and systemic change. ‘An ongoing push to strengthen and grow the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled sector is paramount to driving reform and delivering on the Priority Reforms set out in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.’ Read our media release: https://lnkd.in/gHcXHtDx National Close the Gap Day
