AgriFutures Australia latest report - Australian extension capacity and capability: A map and a gap analysis – highlights the need for a robust and effective national extension system to support the Australian agricultural industry to achieve impact at a production level. The report recommends long-term improvements can be made by increasing investment in coordinated professional development across the industry and also suggests creating industry-wide mentoring programs and leadership training to establish clear career paths and succession plans to help aid intergenerational knowledge transfer. AIA is a strong advocate providing better support to attract, retain and educate talent in the ag sector, and the report and its recommendations are well worth a read.
