Last week at All Energy Australia we were priviledged to have AZZO's own Cara Bertram and James D. share the stage with Ana Erceg (AusNet), Lloyd Heathfield (Yarra Energy Foundation), Prof Ray Wills (Future Smart Strategies), and Katie Purnell (EVenergi) to talk about the Outlook for electrification. The opening talk was by Cara/James on "The Power Quality Connection", and how to overcome the electrical distribution roadblocks that inhibit adoption and operation of renewables & electrification projects. In this presentation, James and Cara outlined the relationship between renewables & electrification initiatives and power quality in an engaging session full of real-world examples that explain the real-world impact of an issue that can be hard to detect until it is too late. The key learnings of this presentation are the need to consider the impact on power quality when planning for new solar, battery or EV charge infrastructure and the real risks that power quality introduces in our new energy landscape, both for consumers and suppliers. As electrification & renewable initiatives accelerate in every sector, facilities are seeing a growing number of power quality issues. In fact, renewable energy upgrades and electrification retrofits can create power quality issues that wipe out the entire benefit of the original investment. For Operations & Engineering teams on the front lines of electrification, power quality has become a new strategic imperative.
