  • This week, 20 Year 10 students visited our Angle Park Training Centre as part of the Aboriginal Pathways to Success Industry Immersion Week, supporting the Department for Education’s Aboriginal Pathways team. The students got a first-hand look at what it’s like to work in the energy industry, exploring trade roles through hands-on activities and conversations with our team. They rotated through interactive sessions, gaining insight into different career pathways and experiencing the practical skills involved in our trade roles. For our people, days like this are a chance to showcase what we do, inspire the next generation, and share knowledge—demonstrating why trade careers are a great option. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we’re committed to increasing representation and ensuring First Nations students see a future for themselves in the energy industry. Bringing new perspectives and fresh talent into the workforce benefits everyone, and seeing these students so engaged and excited about the possibilities ahead is a powerful reminder of why these programs matter. A huge shoutout to Chad Garcia, Chad Ytsma, Madi Burgman, Samuel Farren, Kyle Searle, and Eleanor Ostrenga, along with the wider team, for making the day such a success! • Facing challenging terrain during powerline installation, our Mount Barker depot utilised a heavy-lift drone to efficiently install new powerlines in Mylor in the Adelaide Hills. This innovative approach significantly reduced operational time and enhanced safety, minimising the need for workers to access hazardous areas. By leveraging drone technology, we're able to restore power more quickly for our customers. • Sustainability isn’t just a checkbox for us—it’s at the heart of everything we do. Our 2024 Sustainability Report highlights the steps we’re taking to support South Australia’s energy transition, reduce our environmental impact, and strengthen our communities. Some of the big wins of the year: ✅ 72% of SA’s electricity use was met by renewables – enabled by our network ✅ 29% of our fleet of passenger vehicles is electric ✅ Our Flexible Exports Program won the Clean Energy Council’s 2024 Industry Collaboration Award ✅ We launched the Energy Masters Pilot ✅ 90% of our waste diverted from landfill ✅ $1.67 million invested in community partnerships and grants ✅ Launched our first Reconciliation Action Plan We’ve also released a Sustainable Financing Framework, and received pre-issuance certification under the Climate Bonds Standard’s ‘Electrical and Grids and Storage’ criteria for the issuance of a Green Bond – the first Australian electricity distribution network to do so. There’s still more work to do, but we’re excited about the future and the role we play in helping SA move toward a more sustainable future. 📖 Take a look at our full report: https://lnkd.in/gG2j5PU7 #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #NetZero #SAPowerNetworks #ESG
