Proudly sponsored by Bank First, the Alfred Health Nursing Scholarship supports nurse-led research, enabling nurses to embark on study tours to observe innovative programs and the latest in best-practice care. This scholarship seeks to advance nursing through research, with each recipient ultimately bringing back new ideas to Alfred Health with an understanding of how to implement them locally. Head of Partnership Development | Values driven leader | Key-stakeholder relationships | Community Partnerships

Happy Principals' Day! Today, we celebrate and give thanks to the remarkable leaders who steer our schools with vision and dedication; our Principals, Assistant Principals and aspiring Principals! Principals play a pivotal role in nurturing and guiding students, supporting teachers, and building strong communities. Their tireless efforts in creating positive and inspiring learning environments deserve our deepest gratitude and recognition. In my role at Bank First and sitting on a school council for nearly 10 years, I have developed a deep appreciation for the passion and dedication that principals bring to their work. Their commitment goes well beyond the school gate, impacting the lives of countless individuals and fostering a love for learning. Thank you to all the principals for your incredible work and dedication! We’re delighted to introduce Jacob Bellingham, this year’s recipient of the Bank First Indigenous Leaders Scholarship at Monash University Jacob is two years into his teaching degree and is looking forward to his upcoming teaching placement. “You can constantly improve as a teacher and use student’s voices and feedback to develop and implement new strategies”. The burden of study costs like unpaid placements is a barrier for many First Nations’ scholars pursuing higher education. At Bank First, we’re proud to support all students to reach their greatest potential through our scholarship program.

When we talk partnerships at Bank First, it's not a cheque handover, a shaking of hands and photo opportunity. Our people throw themselves right into our partnerships. This month, our dedicated Bank First team rolled up their sleeves and headed to the State Schools' Relief (SSR) warehouse to tackle the annual stocktake. SSR ensures that every student can be fully prepared to learn by supplying essential school items like uniforms, calculators and stationery. Since 2016, SSR has provided over 1.54 million individual items to families across Victoria. 'Through our longstanding partnership with State Schools Relief, we've seen the transformative power of educational resources' said Adrian Wilson, Head of Community Partnerships.

The online security of our Members continues to be our focus as cyber criminals become more cunning and sophisticated in their attempts to scam us out of our hard-earned money. That's why we're so proud to have one of our own, Anya Avinash, nominated as a finalist in the 2024 Australian Women in Security Awards 'Australia's Most Outstanding in IT Security'. This is great news for Bank First Members. You're in good hands. Congratulations Anya!

Cybersecurity Leader | Head of | CISM, ITIL

Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at the #CISOMelbourne event, where we delved into one of the most contentious topics in Cyber Security: #PaytheRansomorNot? The interactive panel discussion with other seasoned cyber security professionals was vibrant and interactive, providing deep insights into the ethical, practical and strategic dimensions of this critical issue and also saw a good participation from the audience, thanks to our amazing moderator, Jason Murrell Key insights from the panel: 1. Ethical considerations of funding for criminal activities 2. Practical implications based on the impact of the incident and risk tolerance of the organisation 3. Legal and Compliance Issues around regulatory requirements. Legal counsel and law enforcement agencies can provide guidance, but the ultimate decision often rests with the organisation's leadership 4. Detailed strategies were discussed to emphasize the importance of mitigating the risk of ransomware attack by building a resilient infrastructure and having a tested Crisis Management Plan in place 5. Incident Response Planning and role of Cyber Insurance It is clear that there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this complex dilemma. Each organisation must weigh the risks, benefits and ethical implications based on its unique situation. The key takeaway for me is the importance of preventive measures and proactive readiness to respond in a well informed manner. Special thanks to Michelle Ribeiro, Rusty Dimacali and the team at Corinium Global Intelligence for organising such an insightful and impactful event. #CyberSecurity #Ransomware #IncidentResponse #CISO
