Breast Cancer Trials is committed to exploring and finding better treatments for people affected by breast cancer through clinical trials research. We are a group of world-leading breast cancer researchers based in Australia and New Zealand, supported by a team of professional staff who manage our clinical trials and raise the money we need to do the work we do. Our research has improved the treatment of breast cancer, led to changes in the way breast cancer is managed, and saved the lives of millions of people affected by breast cancer since our inception in 1978. Our goal is for breast cancer patients to live better, to live longer, and to never die from breast cancer. The work we do and the decisions we make serve the common good of all people who are affected with breast cancer, as we strive every day to make the world a better place. The CAPTURE clinical trial aims to identify women and men with hormone-receptor positive metastatic breast cancer, who may benefit from a novel combination of drugs that may improve progression-free survival and offer a new treatment option. The CAPTURE clinical trial will involve 21 sites in Australia, is open to both men and women, and will enrol 140 patients on the study. CAMBRIA-2 is for men or women who have ER-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer that has an intermediate or high risk of coming back (recurrence). The aim of CAMBRIA-2 is to prevent breast cancer from coming back for patients with early-stage oestrogen receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, who have a medium to high risk of the cancer returning. CAMBRIA-2 will test if giving a new hormone therapy treatment known as a ‘Selective Estrogen Receptor Degrader’ (SERD) is better at stopping cancer from returning, compared to the usual hormone therapies, such as letrozole, anastrozole, exemestane, or tamoxifen. This research will also find out more about the side effects, safety and effectiveness of the SERD. For more information about the CAMBRIA-2 clinical trial visit: https://lnkd.in/gbGf6WkH

It didn’t take long for Paul to realise Fran was the love of his life. “We hit it off straightaway, so well that three weeks after I met her I asked her to marry me. She said yes.” Fran and Paul had a wonderful life together until Fran was diagnosed with breast cancer. Just 4 years later, at age 60, she was gone. Paul says breast cancer ruined his life. “The 15 years that we could have had and that we had plans for just didn’t happen.” He made the decision to leave a Gift in his Will to Breast Cancer Trials to help protect other families from the devastation breast cancer brought upon his family. “Nobody else needs to go through that. If I can do anything to stop that happening I will.” Paul’s family fully support him as they know the powerful impact his gift will have on future patient outcomes. “I think it’s a way of making a cure possible long after I die. And I have discussed the bequest with my two sons and they are 110% behind it.” To find out about including a gift in your Will to support life-changing research for the future of all women at risk of breast cancer, please call our Gifts in Wills Specialist Vanessa on 1800 423 444 or visit https://lnkd.in/gUvaczdC

This week is Women's Health Week, an annual health awareness campaign held every September since 2013. This week is focused on encouraging women, communities, and workplaces to get involved by sharing health messages, including the importance of screening, heart health, menopause, and maintaining good health and wellbeing. The theme for 2024 is 'Your Voice. Your Choice' and highlights the importance of knowing your body, being actively involved in conversations about your health, and trusting your intuition. In honor of Women's Health Week, we'd like to thank all of the women out there who have played a vital role in helping us to improve treatments and our understanding of breast cancer, through clinical trials research, including our researchers, trial participants, and supporters. Thanks to these efforts, the five-year survival rate of a woman diagnosed with breast cancer is 90%. Your support over the years has led to treatments that have saved countless lives.
