Look at this beautiful reflection from one of the people supported by the Buderim Private Hospital Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program. "On behalf of my husband and I, we can’t thank the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program enough for the compassion and support they showed during the hardest time of our lives. Cancer destroyed our world, our lives, and our business suffered from all the closures due to the many hospital trips and admissions. The team showed so much empathy in our time of need, not only by checking in on us on numerous occasions but also by alleviating the financial stress by offering assistance with shopping and fuel vouchers. We were overwhelmed with the service. We can’t commend the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Program enough! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!" S.M. It's National Safe Work Month, a time employers and workers across Australia commit to creating safe and healthy workplaces. Here, Luke, our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisory Team Leader for UnitingCare Hospitals, shares his "safety why". 🤩 "My safety why is my family and friends and being able to go home to them safely every night. "There are number of reasons why I chose WHS as a profession, the biggest being my family. I come from a family of healthcare workers, from catering staff, orderlies, nurses, admin and management. "I have seen the toll the industry can take on its workers' bodies and minds and since I have worked in healthcare, I have seen some amazing people who put others' health before their own day in and day out. "I chose this profession to support those people and so they can go home to the people they love safely every day." Buderim Private Hospital is proudly part of the UnitingCare family. #NationalSafeWorkMonth #SafetyIsOurBusiness #BuderimPrivateHospital

This week is Pastoral and Spiritual Care Week. It’s a special week for us here at Buderim Private Hospital, and across UnitingCare, to recognise our pastoral carers and chaplains, and the support they provide for our patients and their families, our teams and communities. ✨ This year’s Spiritual Health Week theme is Chaplains Beyond Religious Roles. It reminds us that chaplains and pastoral carers provide support in a wide array of spiritual, emotional, social and other needs. 💜 Please join us this week as we acknowledge and thank our pastoral care team who are here for all of us, accessible, present and willing to support. 🙏 Learn more about our pastoral care team here: https://bit.ly/3Yx5zuv #SpiritualCareWeek #PastoralCareWeek #BuderimPrivateHospital #Carefromtheheart

Today marks International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. At 7pm on this night in all time zones, candles are lit and kept burning for one hour, creating a 24-hour ‘Wave of Light' as it moves around the world in remembrance of little ones lost at any stage of pregnancy, birth or infancy. Our Hospital Chapel is home to our own ‘Wave of Light’ as we remember, reflect and give thanks for these tiny special lives. We encourage our staff, patients and visitors to visit our Chapel to light a candle as we come together as a global community in strength and love 💛 #buderimprivatehospital #carefromtheheart

Please join us in congratulating Christel Dummermuth, Food Services, who was yesterday named the 2024 recipient of the Buderim Private Hospital Elsa Wilson Award. Named after the founder of the hospital, the Elsa Wilson Award is presented annually to recognise a member of staff who goes above and beyond to uphold the hospital’s values of working together, respect, justice, compassion and leading through learning. We welcomed four of Elsa Wilson’s children to help officiate the ceremony yesterday, which was attended by more than 50 staff. Our thanks go to Duncan Walker, Heidi Blair, Pamela Blekkenhorst and Nicola Wilson. 🙏 Our General Manager, Shane Mitchell, presented Christel with the award, which she was surprised and delighted to win. Our pastoral care manager, Theo Masselos, gave a moving blessing to close the event. Well done, Christel, and congratulations to all our amazing finalists - we are so proud to have you as part of our team 🙏💛 #buderimprivatehospital #carefromtheheart #elsawilsonaward
