3% of people live with disability in Singapore. 21.4% of people live with disability in Australia. In our recent trip to Singapore it was informative to explore the similarities and differences in two countries approach to Access & Inclusion. Workshops with individuals with disability & carers, demonstrations and pitches to business leaders & community groups proved the need to "Know Before You Go" and assurance of a "Warm Welcome on Arrival" are universally essential to improve participation in sport, education, recreation, tourism, health and every day activities. Thanks to the families, AIRZONE, SG Enable, City Square Mall, Trade and Investment Queensland & Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) for supporting Cérge explore how to best support the disability community across Singapore. Cérge is committed to supporting all families across Singapore as well as athletes to the upcoming 2025 World Para Swimming Championships. It is profound how one key word in a definition can create the variance from 3% to 21.4% in two developed countries i.e. "substantially reduced" vs "restricts". Extrapolating such variation through entrenched statistics, business cases, and commercial arguments is far reaching. Disability in Singapore is defined as "those with SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED prospects of securing, retaining places and advancing in education and training institutions, employment and recreation, due to physical, intellectual, and sensory impairments, as well as developmental needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder". Disability in Australia is defined as "a person has a disability if they report they have a limitation, restriction or impairment, which has lasted, or is likely to last, for at least six months and RESTRICTS everyday activities." Either way Cérge is dedicated Ambassadors of Access & Pioneers of Change. Above and Beyond? Or is this what normal should be? The Pelican Park Recreation Centre is undergoing exciting revitalisation works to improve community participation. This means temporary closure. 3 temporary pop up facilities have been setup within the community of Hastings to ensure the local community retains access to the health and well being benefits of a key recreation asset. Access & Inclusion has been front and centre in decisions and communications, so when the team at Pelican Park reached out asking if Cérge could create a dedicated Companion Website (Virtual Tour, Visual Story & Sensory Guide, Access Guide, Audio Guide etc) for each of the pop up venues, we were ready. Not only is providing this information to "Know Before You Go" during this revitalisation project an essential step to retain connection with members, it is also essential to deliver these solutions in a fast and cost efficient manner. The revitalisation project is only expected to take 6months, so speed of delivery, setup and communication is a key element to "Know Before You Go". A sense of continuity is so important for active participation. When in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago for the Belgravia Foundation inspirational breakfast, we profiled the 3 pop up venues and now already actively supporting Belgravia Leisure promote the access & inclusive features of each venue. We love innovating at Cérge and added some cool incremental innovations e.g. linking all 3 venues together within their Virtual Tours and also direct connection between the Sensory Guide descriptions into exact location within the Virtual Tour. Any thing to help explain how the 3 temporary pop up venues operate and reduce any anxiety or fear to visit was the goal... Above and beyond? No. This is just good business and community sense done well. Thank you Belgravia Foundation & Belgravia Leisure for continually pushing Cérge to improve our technology for the benefit of all. WOW India! What a remarkable experience and opportunity for Australian Business. Participating in the Trade and Investment Queensland in the Queensland Sports Launchpad with KPMG India across Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru made it crystal clear India is vastly different from our perceptions in the West. This is a massive country collectively moving together in the same direction, and the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics is a perfect milestone to unveil a whole new look. The traffic was the perfect analogy to a naïve Australian. It may be total chaos in some places, but gee it totally works. Despite the massive population, it still flows... Don't come to India with your same expectations as Australia, expect business and commerce to flow differently. Cérge is busily exploring how to leverage our new connections and awareness and offer our commitment to supporting Access & Inclusion Initiatives across India. Including the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in September and the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Bid. Victoria Kerrisk and I will be back in India April 1-12 to progress partnership opportunities. Ping me if supporting our best cricket adversaries in business and commerce is on your radar. Sport & business are team games after all... Massive thank you to Shibu Mathews & Kala Anand for making this trade forum so very valuable and fun. #TIQ #SportsTech #QueenslandIndia #Collaboration #Innovation #SportsBusiness #Partnerships #Growth | Sam Ward | Ben Barringham | Alissa Wilkinson | Cameron Meekin Abhinav Bhatia Emily de la Peña Sean Bohannon Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) + Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Sports Commission + Ravi Krishnan

What an incredible jolt to the system last week was! ⚡⚡ 3 action packed days within Advance Queensland and Deloitte's Ignite+ Scale inaugural Upscale Intensive Lab. Hosted at the Precinct in Brisbane and standing alongside the brilliant minds who facilitated this program, I'm struck by how transformative this experience has been for Cérge. The program brought together the global reach and expertise of Deloitte with the innovation focus of Advance Queensland to deliver something truly special. From strategic frameworks like Cascade of Choices and StrategyByDesign™ to deep dives on the "7 Powers" for building sustainable competitive advantages, the breadth and depth of content was exceptional. What made this program stand out wasn't just the calibre of Deloitte's specialists across strategy, finance, M&A, tax, and human capital – it was how these experts tailored their insights specifically for the unique challenges of 30 different scaleups. The sessions on financial infrastructure, capital raising, and global expansion strategies were incredibly timely as we navigate our growth trajectory. The opportunity to learn from successful founders like Lauren Hall, Glen Richards, Phillip Di Bella, and Olympic champion Natalie Cook OAM OLY provided invaluable real-world perspectives that complemented Deloitte's frameworks perfectly. 👊👊 As we apply these learnings at Cérge, our vision to make the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games the most inclusive in history feels more achievable than ever. The strategic clarity and growth roadmap we've developed through this program has strengthened our resolve and approach to this mission. With partnerships like this and the vibrant Queensland scaleup community formed through the program, we're more confident than ever in our ability to revolutionise accessibility technology and create lasting impact. Heartfelt thanks to the teams at Advance Queensland and Deloitte, as well as all the industry experts who shared their wisdom so generously. The ripple effects of this program will extend far beyond these weeks and will help shape not just Cérge's future, but the future of accessibility for major events worldwide. The journey to 2032 continues, and thanks to Ignite+ Scale, we're better equipped than ever to make our vision a reality!
