Most of the patient organisations I work with are small, often run by volunteers. It's not that they don't need a lot of funding, it's that the way funding works isn't equitable and rather than giving up, they often self-fund and/or make personal sacrifices to keep going. So if you can, donate to one of your local patient organisations but don't forget the smaller ones.
Patient organisations provide vital services and are an important part of health systems. We couldn't live without them. Donate to your local patient organisation today 💙

Aujourd'hui commence le colloque CHARGE au Creps de Boivre la Vallée à côté de Poitiers. Ce colloque a été organisé par le CRESAM. Plusieurs temps auront lieu: des plénières, surtout médicales sur ce syndrome polymalformatif qui relève de la surdicécité, un théâtre forum, des témoignages, des temps de rencontre et de partage entre famille, personnes porteuses du syndrome et professionnel.les. Pour ma part, j'ai été dans l'ombre d'un projet autour du parcours de vie sur lequel s'exprimeront un jeune adulte avec le syndrome CHARGE: Basile, deux mamans d'enfants avec ce syndrome: Thérèse et Wassila et le nouveau médecin du CRESAM: Isabelle Bouillevaux. Cette préparation a été incroyable de partages riches et passionnants et j'ai hâte de les découvrir mettre en lumière leurs expériences singulières et parfois universelles et les propositions d'améliorations qu'iels feront. Une pensée pour Madelene Rich et le superbe mooc sur le syndrome CHARGE qui a été fait par CHARGE Syndrome Australasia qui m'a permis de découvrir avec plaisir et curiosité, ce syndrome méconnu grâce aux explications hyper claires des intervenants. Deux de ces intervenants s'exprimeront également lors du colloque : David Brown et Tim Hartshorne.

A healthy number of parents confirming having access to support that included language modelling, play and sharing experiences. But what was more startling; the age of those ‘children’ was at least 25 years old and many older … What support and access to early intervention are today’s parents of children with CHARGE syndrome getting?

We celebrate Rob Last AM’s 50 year legacy to the Australasian CHARGE syndrome community. https://lnkd.in/g8HarCcB Rob Last has been an important international figure in the field of education and advocacy for those with multi-sensory disabilities, deafness, deafblindness and CHARGE syndrome, along with their families.
