Globally, September is known as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which holds special significance for many families and is an opportunity to spread awareness about childhood cancer. The Gold Ribbon is the international symbol representing all childhood cancers, and just like gold, our children are incredibly precious, so this September we are encouraging the community to Wear Gold, Give Gold or Be Gold to drive our mission during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. What are your plans to create awareness or make a difference this September? Get involved at: https://lnkd.in/gSqXT24i #ccam2024 #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth

Supporting 400 families, we provide ongoing and practical hands on support for children with cancer and their families.
About us
The Childhood Cancer Association is one of Australia's key childhood cancer support organisations. We’re here to help families from South Australia and the Northern Territory — and we also support country Victoria and New South Wales families if their child receives treatment in Adelaide. Ever since 1982, it’s been our mission to provide practical, hands-on support for children with cancer, and their families. We were formed by a group of parents of children with cancer who responded to the needs they had identified themselves. This group, with the help of Paediatric Oncologist Dr Michael Rice, began to build the services that now form the basis of what we do. Our support is tailored to meet the needs of each individual family. We rely solely on the generous support of the people like you and businesses like yours to help us continue to provide vital services and support to families in need.

Whether you were in the room or not, it was almost impossible not to be swept up in the Winter Wonderland magic of the much-anticipated sold-out fourth Gold Ribbon Gala, which raised an incredible $236,309 on the night for the most important people of all: children with cancer, and their families. Because when a child is diagnosed with cancer, their entire childhood is affected. And the impact flows onto the whole family—the parents, siblings, grandparents and even extended family members, each one requiring support to help them cope. That’s why the incredible support at this year’s Gala has been so critical, as it means we can continue to provide 30 non-medical, critical care services, free of charge, which are tailored to meet the needs of each individual family. The funds raised together will have a huge impact on the future of the Childhood Cancer Association, as we expand our services to increase our support in the areas of nutrition and exercise. We are proud to say that 100% of every dollar spent in the room will go towards giving our children a better future. We are so grateful for every part that was played by everyone involved. Thank you. It was a fantastic night celebrating Christmas in July with the wonderful team at SkyCity Adelaide. Thanks to their generous donation of 20% from every ticket sold, we can continue to provide critical care services to local families who have a child with cancer. 💛 Special thanks to Libby Rayner and Melanie Mansfield - and a shout-out to our ambassador Jarrod Walsh for being such a fab host.
On Friday 19 July SkyCity celebrated the magic of Christmas with a stunning Christmas in July ballroom event. The SkyCity Adelaide ballroom was unmistakably festive, with exceptional food and drink served among Christmas trees, ice sculptures, and thousands of twinkling lights. Live entertainment had the crowd spellbound throughout the evening, with expert hosting by MC Jarrod Walsh, a performance by a chamber ensemble from the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and the Lesley Williams and Dusty Lee Band providing a soundtrack for the dancefloor. We are honoured to donate 20% of ticket sales to our charity partner for the event, the Childhood Cancer Association Inc, in support of their work supporting families of children diagnosed with cancer. Their work is invaluable to families in need, and includes a range of 30 professional services, including counselling, financial assistance, support packages, emergency accommodation, and much more. Thanks to Rajat Gupta and the Events at SkyCity team for bringing Christmas in July to life, as well as all of our team members and partners who helped to bring the space together so spectacularly.
