Globally, September is known as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which holds special significance for many families and is an opportunity to spread awareness about childhood cancer. The Gold Ribbon is the international symbol representing all childhood cancers, and just like gold, our children are incredibly precious, so this September we are encouraging the community to Wear Gold, Give Gold or Be Gold to drive our mission during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Whether you were in the room or not, it was almost impossible not to be swept up in the Winter Wonderland magic of the much-anticipated sold-out fourth Gold Ribbon Gala, which raised an incredible $236,309 on the night for the most important people of all: children with cancer, and their families. Because when a child is diagnosed with cancer, their entire childhood is affected. And the impact flows onto the whole family—the parents, siblings, grandparents and even extended family members, each one requiring support to help them cope. That’s why the incredible support at this year’s Gala has been so critical, as  it means we can continue to provide 30 non-medical, critical care services, free of charge, which are tailored to meet the needs of each individual family. The funds raised together will have a huge impact on the future of the Childhood Cancer Association, as we expand our services to increase our support in the areas of nutrition and exercise. We are proud to say that 100% of every dollar spent in the room will go towards giving our children a better future.  We are so grateful for every part that was played by everyone involved. It was a fantastic night celebrating Christmas in July with the wonderful team at SkyCity Adelaide.
