Supporting 400 families, we provide ongoing and practical hands on support for children with cancer and their families.
About us
The Childhood Cancer Association is one of Australia's key childhood cancer support organisations. We’re here to help families from South Australia and the Northern Territory — and we also support country Victoria and New South Wales families if their child receives treatment in Adelaide. Ever since 1982, it’s been our mission to provide practical, hands-on support for children with cancer, and their families. We were formed by a group of parents of children with cancer who responded to the needs they had identified themselves. This group, with the help of Paediatric Oncologist Dr Michael Rice, began to build the services that now form the basis of what we do. Our support is tailored to meet the needs of each individual family. We rely solely on the generous support of the people like you and businesses like yours to help us continue to provide vital services and support to families in need.

A huge thank you to the SA Mid Winter Charity Ball event organisers, sponsors and all the guests for making a difference in the lives of local children with cancer, and their families. 🎗🙏 A record $120,000 was raised on the night, which was split equally between the Childhood Cancer Association and Cure 4 Cystic Fibrosis. Thank you for making a difference. 💛💛💛 Special thanks to Event Co-Chairs, Stacey Lee & Cameron England.

Kevin Connell from SA Power Networks has been running an AFL Footy Top 8 fundraiser every year since 2017 which the SA Power Networks Employee Foundation has generously dollar matched, which has led to more than $32,000 that has been donated to the Childhood Cancer Association – what an outstanding effort! Kev has just retired to enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle, but we are so happy to hear he wants to continue to run this fundraiser with the help of employees that are still in the business. Happy fishing Kev and thank you for your dedication in fundraising to support children impacted by cancer, which we know is close to your heart, and thank you also to SA Power Networks Employee Foundation for all the additional support you've shown us over the years with donations, volunteering support and other kind acts, we are truly appreciative of your generosity! Thank you, Isabell Al-Nahat. #childhoodcancer #thankyou #corporatedonation

BEANIES FOR BRAVERY ✨ When Iris & Wool founder, Emily Riggs, was 9 years old, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes. A year into her treatment, her mother lost her own cancer battle, passing away from breast cancer, aged 43. During Emily's treatment she lost all her hair. As a young girl in her formative years, this was very difficult. If you swipe across you will see Emily's family including her mum who embraced the baldness while she was sick, she hardly ever wore a hat and never had a wig. She was so brave in so many ways. 💔 This month, Emily has launched the Beanies for Bravery campaign, in memory of her beautiful Mum, and to help support as many families out there in Australia who have children battling cancer. You can help, simply by buying an Iris & Wool beanie. 100% of proceeds go to supporting the Childhood Cancer Association. Hurry only 4 more days left! ✨ Shop our beanies now: https://lnkd.in/gF7ub9e6

To acknowledge the 20th Anniversary of Bradley's Place, we invited supporters and donors to an open house for morning tea and to see our latest renovations. 💛 Since 2004, Bradley's Place, near Victor Harbor, has welcomed hundreds of families, supported by the Childhood Cancer Association, needing respite accommodation. Sadly in 1991, Neil and Robyn Walker lost one of their twins, Bradley, to cancer at the age of four. The Walker's devastating experience helped them to realise how important support systems were for other families facing similar problems. They turned the impact of their tragic loss into something positive and became actively involved in supporting the work of the Childhood Cancer Association. With funds raised by the Walker family and their fundraising group, the Six State Challenge Team, Bradley's Place was opened, in honour of their son Bradley. Our respite accommodation, at Bradley’s Place, is just one of 30 vital support service that we offer to families who have a child with cancer. Families can enjoy a peaceful haven away from some of the stresses and demands that come with childhood cancer and make memories together. Bradley's Place is also a special place for some families to remember a child they have lost to cancer. Bradley’s Place has been supported by local community groups and businesses including Rotary Victor Harbor, Zonta Club of the Fleurieu Peninsula, McCracken Resort, Glow Heating Cooling Electrical, Urimbirra Wildlife Park, Victor Fish, Victor Harbor Farmers Market and The Hotel Crown. Bradley’s Place has also been proudly funded by Alexander Symonds, Datacord SA, the SA Power Networks Employee Foundation and private donors. We're so grateful for this wonderful community of generous supporters. 🙏 #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerawareness #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth #ccam2024 #respiteaccommodation #victorharbor
