Good People in Power

About us

CitiPower and Powercor own and operate electricity distribution networks servicing 1.2 million customers while also enabling the renewable generation essential to transition to a clean energy future. Our networks play an important role in the energy supply chain by providing reliable, safe and affordable electricity supplies. This involves a lot of innovation in managing the increasingly complex and sophisticated system behind it. Our electricity networks are a crucial gateway to a clean energy future. Connections with renewable energy generators bring clean energy to industrial, commercial and residential customers. As more customers choose solar, batteries, electric vehicles or smart appliances, our networks are enabling new ways to generate, store, share and use power. Overlay this with the fact that our networks traverse some of Victoria’s highest bushfire risk areas and regions at risk from the impacts of climate change. We support customer choice while also keeping communities safe and maintaining system security and network stability. Our team of professionals in network strategy and planning, asset management, major projects, field operations, and IT are at the forefront of addressing these challenges. Join us today. Be a part of an industry leader that shapes the future for energy.

Team Wednesday- Feed Melbourne@Atrium Fed Square sponsored by CitiPower and Powercor Australia - You always know who your best friends are when you need to ask for help. CitiPowerPowercor are those best friends. Friends for over a decade, they built our extraordinary food truck which has provided over 64,000 hot meals in disaster zones starting with the 2019 Black Summer bushfires and later in Lismore during the 2022 catastrophic floods. They were also integral in helping us open MG’s kitchen on time in April 2021, providing power for our commercial equipment. It’s always a pleasure having teams from Citipower Powercor join us, and this group was no exception. They arrived promptly as is their way and rolled up their sleeves following our Chef’s lead to create an amazing array of 23 dishes bound for our street restaurant. They learnt how to use rescued food and follow zero-waste cooking techniques, and no one was afraid to wash the dishes. A truly engaged and hard-working crew with a great team spirit. Savoury dishes included: Chicken curry Black sesame roast carrots Stir fry greens Singapore noodles Botanical Cuisine Pesto pasta For sweet treats: TBU signature pancakes Choc blueberry banana cake Baked apple Donuts & pastries The night was drizzly and wet and could have been a low key affair, but thanks to the unequalled support from our Landlords Fed Square/ MapCo we were able to offer our friends on the street a new dining space protected from the elements. Thank you to Fed Square MapCo for offering us use of the beautiful and elegant Atrium space for our pop up restaurant service. #TeamBuilding #CitipowerPowercor #FederationSquare #Atrium #PowerOfTeamwork #BuildingConnections #CollaborationInAction #TogetherWeGrow #EmpoweringTeams

To help our customers stay even more informed during unplanned outages, we’re trialling some enhancements to our outage notification service in the CitiPower network between September and November.   The trial is addition to our existing outage notification service and includes: ✔ Real-time updates: the latest information on the repair crew's estimated arrival time, fault location, and estimated power restoration time. ✔ Personalised notifications: an SMS and/or email with a link to a map showing the outage details specific to the customer's home or business. ✔ Greater transparency: progress on repairs and when their power is expected to be back on. One of our engineers, Ritesh Bharat, recently attended the International Council on Large Electric Systems in Paris. CIGRE is a global community that encourages knowledge sharing between power systems professionals. Here's his take on the event. "I engaged with industry peers in sessions and at the exhibition booths to see how their latest offerings could bring value to our network. My key takeaways from the CIGRE session include: - 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐜𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲: increased digitalisation demands stronger cybersecurity measures. - 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: AI is transforming DER management for better grid stability. - 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬 (𝐏𝐌𝐔𝐬): enhancing grid reliability through real-time monitoring. - 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬: SF6-free switchgear and other innovations are driving sustainability. - 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬: Supporting a more compact, efficient grid. These trends are signalling a shift toward smarter, more sustainable, and resilient energy systems."

    Executive General Manager Regulation

It was a great privilege to speak at the Women in Energy and Renewables Summit on understanding future customer preferences and needs. It was also amazing being at a forum squarely focused on women’s contribution to the energy sector. I met some amazing women who work across our sector including our business CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy. In the words of AEMC Chair Anna Collyer, ‘Keep going it’s to important to stop’.
