About us

Classroom of Hope is an education nonprofit organisation. We partner with local NGO's and communities to build safe and sustainable block schools and block homes out of recycled plastic waste in developing countries. We innovate using new block technology to ensure we are being sustainable in our approach to development by using the circular economy. In 2021 we built the world's first block school in a matter of 6 days and the worlds first block toilet in 2023 in Indonesia.

Ready for some big news? 🌟Classroom of Hope is absolutely thrilled to share that our first-ever Hope Gala was a resounding success! 🌟 Thanks to the generosity and incredible support of our community, we surpassed our goal and raised $143,000—enough to build a brand-new, earthquake-resistant Block School for the students of Sambik Bangkol 7 in Lombok! Held at the beautiful Half Acre Melbourne, this unforgettable night brought together friends, supporters, and new faces, all united in our mission to create safe, sustainable learning spaces for children in need. A huge shoutout to our wonderful partners at Loft Social, who not only came up with the vision for the Hope Gala, but also worked tirelessly for the last several months to make every detail of this evening possible. Big thanks are also due to our event sponsors: SEIVA: We're Business, Tax and Wealth - Advisors, who helped make the whole evening possible through their support and friendship. Special shoutouts to our inspiring lineup of speakers: Nartarsha Bamblett, for her moving Acknowledgement of Country, grounding us in respect and connection. Travis Bell, our Master of Ceremonies, for keeping us energized, motivated, and on track to make the most of the night. Tiffany Sayers, for being the driving force behind this event, and for giving such a moving speech about Loft Social’s partnership with Classroom of Hope. Jason Chambers and Sullivan Stapleton, Classroom of Hope ambassadors who so generously use their platforms to spread awareness, rally support, and help us reach new audiences. Richenda Vermeulen, CEO of ntegrity | B Corp agency, for sharing why purpose-driven organizations like hers are committed to making a difference. Stefan Kazakis of Business Benchmark Group, who joined us onstage to share his own journey as a corporate donor and the magic of attending Classroom of Hope new school openings. Holly Ransom, our inspiring keynote speaker, who captivated the audience with her expertise and passion, leaving everyone motivated to take action and make a difference. Phil de Fégely, our amazing live auctioneer, for bringing so much energy to the auction and helping us make the most of each bid. And, of course, to our own Tanya Armstrong and Nicola Courtin for leading a powerful panel discussion on Classroom of Hope’s mission and future goals! To everyone who attended, donated, bid, or supported us from afar—thank you. Together, we’re building hope, opportunity, and brighter futures for the students of Sambik Bangkol and beyond. 💙 What a testament to what we can achieve as a community. Stay tuned for a full recap of the night on our blog, coming soon 📰 , and make sure to follow us here and on Instagram for continued updates on this incredible new school build made possible by the Hope Gala. #HopeGala2024 #ClassroomOfHope #ImpactThroughEducation #BuildingBrighterFutures

A few weeks ago, we shared the hugely exciting news about our partnership with The Phillips Foundation, which will enable Classroom of Hope to continue to work towards a massive impact in North Lombok, Indonesia. Today, we’re excited to share more information about the North Lombok Transforming Education Program—a comprehensive initiative designed to transform education and uplift entire communities over the next decade. Through this program, we’re focusing on four key areas that will improve education for both students and teachers: 🔸 Rebuilding Block Schools and Toilets to create safe, earthquake-resistant learning environments. 🔸 Enhancing Education with extracurricular programs addressing local needs, from waste management to English language skills and child rights. 🔸 Measuring Impact with an evaluation framework in partnership with the University of Adelaide, ensuring our efforts lead to long-term, sustainable change. 🔸 Building Local Capacity through a “Train the Trainer” model and community engagement to foster ongoing development and sustainability. As we embark on this exciting 10-year journey, we are filled with gratitude and determination. This initiative is about more than just building schools—it’s about empowering communities and creating a lasting legacy of hope and opportunity for generations to come. 👋 Hello to our expanding network – we’re Classroom of Hope! With our audience growing, we want to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves. Our mission is simple: to create a world where every child thrives in safe, uplifting schools. Since 2012, we’ve built 112 schools, providing over 31,000 students with safe classrooms. In 2021, we launched our Block Schools program, and along with our partners at Block Solutions Indonesia and Happy Hearts Indonesia, this program has turned 113 tonnes of plastic waste into 25 earthquake-resistant schools. We’re proud to address the education, climate, and plastic crises simultaneously. We're proud of the incredible students who are our future, now able to learn and grow in safe, earthquake-resistant, sustainable classrooms. We're proud of all of you who have supported us through these programs, and many more to come! 💚 Thank you for your support! Learn more at www.classroomofhope.org.
