Coates first partnered with TIACS in 2021 and we’re committed to supporting their vital work during #MentalHealthMonth and beyond. “It’s important to remember that we all have a bit of head noise. At TIACS, we think of ourselves as the ‘head noise specialists’. We want to make it really easy for tradies, truckies, farmers and blue-collar workers to be able to chat with a professional,” says Jason Banks, Co-CEO of TIACS. For free and confidential support, reach out to TIACS.

The annual Telethon holds a special place in the hearts of many West Australians, and our Perth team was honoured to join the amazing volunteers answering phones last weekend. Over 26 hours, donations poured in, raising a record-breaking $83.2 million for sick and vulnerable children. A big thank you to our team for donating their time to support our Coates Foundation partner and to the people of WA for their generosity.

“The people and leaders at Coates are caring, genuine and approachable, creating an environment where everyone wants to see each other thrive and develop. I’m a great example of this, having joined Coates as a Sales Coordinator, progressing to Account Manager and now supporting our customers’ major mining, power and industrial projects in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. Every customer, shutdown and project is unique, but equipment hire is such an integral part to them all. I enjoy collaborating with internal and external customers to ensure everything aligns as planned, to overcome challenges and ultimately deliver results that benefit both their projects and our business. The most important skill I bring is my work ethic. Customers appreciate it when you go the extra mile to ensure high standards. We can achieve success by outservicing our competitors, so I strive to understand my customers’ perspectives and think simply – how would I like to be assisted in their position?” Zac Gilray Major Projects Manager

Many organisations, including Coates, provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support workers and their families. But what happens if you’re a subcontractor or self-employed? “Not having access to these services is another barrier in seeking help,” says Jason Banks, Co-CEO of TIACS. TIACS – a free, confidential and professional mental health counselling service for blue collar workers and their loved ones – removes the barriers that prevent many from seeking support. Reach out today if you need a yarn. #MentalHealthMonth

“I really enjoy the camaraderie at Coates, which feels like a family business despite being a large national organisation. I strive to embody our company values every day, especially ‘Care deeply’ and ‘One team,’ by being genuinely invested in the success and wellbeing of my colleagues and our customers. I’ve worked with Adrian Manning, Executive General Manager - North, for over six years and value my role as a strategic partner. I streamline Adrian’s day by anticipating his needs and solving problems, enabling him to focus on high-impact decisions that drive the business forward. My role combines leadership, creativity and relationship-building, making it both dynamic and rewarding. Though my support is often behind the scenes – managing Adrian’s calendar and inbox, facilitating communication across the North Business Unit, and handling unexpected challenges – I'm proud to make a tangible impact on the success of Adrian, the North BU team and the whole business.” Julie Sims Executive Assistant - North

This #MentalHealthMonth, Coates is raising awareness of the important work of our Coates Foundation partner, TIACS, a professional and free mental health counselling service for blue collar workers and their loved ones. More people are using their services, which is encouraging. “Because we offer a mental health counselling service, not crisis support, we want to grow awareness that you don’t have to tough it out alone and normalise help-seeking behaviour,” says Jason Banks, Co-CEO of TIACS.
